Sian, my touchscreen got auto touch problem, just happened two days ago while playing Tiny Death Star. Auto touches intermittent on the top left corner. Rebooted, recalibrated touch screen, problem went away... But only for a while.

Called the service centre yesterday, the pinoy service lady asked me if I had installed any apps in my phone. What the hell? It's a smartphone of course I've installed apps on it la! So I told her I haven't installed new apps recently. This problem occurred when I was using my phone normally, the same way I've been using it for the past 6months plus, only now suddenly got this problem. She told me to back up everything and then do factory reset. Sian, I hate this cuz after reset must recustomise the whole phone (Android users know what I mean). Anybody got a programme to do this ah? Any cloning application that serves this function?

Anyway, I sort of accepted my fate that it may be a firmware problem, and it's just part of the diagnosis procedure. But judging from the posts here, I've a feeling it's a hardware problem too. But the lady still said that I have to do the reset just to rule out the possibility of firmware problem. Haiz.

So now, I gotta backup lo. Lucky Asus has an app called App Backup. Anyone used it before? It supposedly backs up your apps and app data as well.

Yes it may be a hardware issue. My touchscreen gave me problems 3 times already. But dont worry it's just a calibration issue that the service centre can fix for you without reformatting your phone unless your motherboard is also affected (or they want to change more parts for you to ensure problem doesnt reoccur).

I havent tried App Backup. But for backup I'd usually use Titanium Backup for the games + apkdata, Google auto backup and restore for the normal apps, SMS Backup & Restore for SMS, manually copying WhatsApp folder for backup of Media/Profile Pictures/Database/etc.

To truly "clone" a phone, you have to root it (which aint hard). And use TB or some other backup.

I feel your pain when you say the customisation will be lost. Unfortunately yes... The layout and folders and widgets all will be lost if you use the default Launcher. Use Nova Launcher instead and you can backup the entire Launcher homescreen. Note: If you use it in Phone mode, it stores Phone layout. If you use it in Tablet mode, it stores Tablet layout.

Call logs aint important to me. I think that is about covering everything on Backup? Hope this helps (from a 3 times force-reformat PFI user).

So the actually those reported issues over the last 1/2 pages is the older PFI or the new one? Intending to recontract and get it plus the dock though.

Hi all. Does anyone know how much does it cost to replace the LCD screen for the phone? Dropped mine few days back and it cracked. Totally cannot function without the station now.

very challenging indeed

maybe u can try your luck at china wholesale sites like aliexpress or taobao....

i seem to have seen the availability of the component before....

but another challenge is who is expert enough to change it for you outside

For Pink PadFone it can only be purchased with the station. Pricing is similar to other colors of the same model 898 for 16gb phone + 368 for the station.

You can purchase at Starhub too, they have contract rates and non-contract rates.
