0. have latest firmware
1. Install Intel USB driver for Android Devices (this is a new version, recently released): https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-usb-driver-for-android-devices
2. Download the 15 seconds ADB Installer v1.4.2 and install everything from it: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0MKgCbUM0itSUhpUklCTFpzWkE&authuser=0
3. Download the desired pre-rooted firmware from MEGA: https://mega.co.nz/#F!k4MHiAgL!dVuOKeH3eokcwPSNI79ffw
(the folder you choose should be the same as your firmware on phone. eg ze550ml international version is z008 ww 2 15 40 13
ze551ml is z00a
Download 3 files from the folder: boot.img, recovery.img and system image - the system image is split into multiple files through a .zip archive...so extract it after all the parts are downloaded)

4. Copy the boot.img, recovery.img, system.img into the folder where ADB installed its files.
5. On your PC, go to the ADB folder, hold shift and right mouse button and choose "Open command windows here"
6. Plug your phone to your PC via USB cable
7. Type adb reboot fastboot. Phone will restart in fastboot mode
8. Type fastboot devices . You should see your device afterwards in the command window.
9. Type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img wait till its done
10. Type fastboot flash boot boot.img wait till its done
11. Type fastboot flash system system.img - This takes a while. Wait till it's done.
12. Disconnect USB cable. then click on Normal Boot button on phone screen

When phone restarts, you notice all your apps / settings are still intact.

13. Access the SuperSu notification and choose to update binaries via Normal Way/Mode

After that, dont update binaries unnecessarily. and new updates might screw the root

Hi, at step 7, it keeps saying that the device is not found.. Any idea what went wrong? Thank you!

but have to factor in shipping right? and buy from taobao need a few weeks to deliver? :s11:

My colleague in Shanghai on business trip, so bring it back for me. Anyway, taobao seller don't ship direct to Singapore, need to use forwarder, shipping fee expensive if you just buy 1 item. You can try other online store like aliexpress, ebay or qoo10, shipping fee shouldn't be that expensive.

saw one from aliexpress

Update screwed it up

wow..abit cheam..i don't understand this

The latest firmware update (yesterday, Tues 26 May 2015) had the APN defaulted to "Singtel (pre-paid)" so data is cut off. Change this to "Singtel (post-paid)" if your original setting and plan was this.

I just disabled/uninstall as much as i could. the rest just hide it or throw it in a folder and forget. Nowadays can't really help. All OEMs have bloatware of some sort. Even on Nexus, they give me a lot of google apps that I can't install also, just disable or hide only. Apple also like to bundle their own apps no matter you use it or not. Same thing just throw in a folder and forget. :s13:

The buttons are stiffer than i would have liked too, compared to on the G3/G4 which is much nicer to click. But i think with more use might become more "seasoned" in a sense.

The back casing just life up a little from the slit, then use fingernail, prytool, or a plastic card, and then slide it along the sides. That will release the clips on the sides and make it easier to take out.

;)

Can anyone tell me what audio format it support? I've been trying to see if it can support DSD but no info, best I could find is that it has 'multi-format' support......I suck at Googling.:o
