May I ask; do you guys change the cable becoz its spoilt or do you change it to a better one for better sound ?
I would tend to agree with Team Stereo's suggestion as well. If you find that your current IM series IEM is not really lacking in any areas and you find it's current sound sig good enough, there's really no need to spend an additional 99 bucks just to upgrade to the 6N-OFC AT-HDC5 higher quality cable avail in stores atm. However as a current IM02 owner and based on one of
Phile-web's review based on their assessment of the AT-HDC5 cables, it's clear that there is a noticeable improvement in terms of SQ when paired with the IM70/IM02/IM04 models line-up.
The connector jack plug at the other end of the AT-HDC5 cables are however made up of higher quality materials compared to the stock cable, it's crafted in metal (can't make out the material but it's likely to be made of shaved aluminium in terms of the L-shaped jack plug which seems to be used in alot of latest headphone accessories by many manufacturers these days as well).
Cable microphonics is probably abt the same as the stock cable according to my observation, but I haven't really gone back and used my stock cable on my IM02 ever since I switched to the HDC5's so perhaps Stereo may wanna further add-on some comments if they have additional findings on their side.
Hope my above input/feedback helps, cheers.
