In the end I just use 5Ghz. Most dual bands seem to have issues with 2.4Ghz.

Switch off and on the router, then try to see whether it is working. Otherwise call 1688 to change router.

Same thing happened to me. I went into the admin page, disabled 5 GHz and re-enabled it again. Working fine now.

Is it possible that the router is operating on channels that your devices cannot receive? Best to fixed the channels to what you know your devices can receive and not let the router auto.

The Aztech DSL7002GRV(S) can operate on the entire wifi spectrum (channel range). Probably the only one out-of-the-box that has this capability. Not all devices can use recognise the entire spectrum of wifi channels.

What's an AC router?

So is this 7002router given by ST , AC router or not?
No. It is N standard, not AC standard. Just google "AC standard" and wiki will give u every info. Just make use of latest technology, google search engine.

My apologies if this has already been asked but tried to search for a way to disable the hardware fire wall in this particular modem but can't seem to find the relevant thread.

So, how do I disable the hardware firewall?

Hi everyone,

I have just upgraded to 200 Mbps today, Aztech DSL-7002GRV. While setting up my security setting, I discover there is only 1 layer of security for wireless, which is the wpa / psk key. The 2nd layer security, Mac Filtering is not available. Called Singtel, said is Aztech issue. Called Aztech, said that the DSL-7002GRV does not have Mac Filtering and within Singtel requirements. Only if requested by Singtel, will they program the feature. Called back Singtel, feedback to them that Mac Filtering is necessary. Customer Service Officer said will highlight to upper management about Mac Filtering.

I believe that in this high technology age, having 2 layers of security is necessary to prevent others from accessing into your network and stealing from you.

If there are others who feel the same way about this, please feedback to Singtel to highlight to upper management.

Thank you.

It is there in the "Home Network Configuration" page. Scroll down to "Manual devices reserve:" and add the MAC addresses you want to allow.

I believe that is to reserve a IP address that you want for your device. Mac Filtering with whitelist, would prevent any devices from using wifi to connect to your network even if they have your WPA/PSK key.

If someone could break your AES, then your mac filtering is completely useless.

i would strongly recommend you to use a really complex password for wireless instead of relying on MAC filtering (which is practically useless against real hackers). AES is one of the best out there and is known to be very resistant to attacks. Do not use TKIP.

7002 default key is not exactly secure so you should switch to a more secure key (use a 256bit one instead).

Btw, I am not saying that AES its 100% foolproof but due to its resilient to cracking, no real hacker will be bother to spend time and energy trying to hack home user internet so they can get free wifi.

Btw, back then, I read about NSA coming close to breaking 256bit AES. But we are talking about NSA, not some average neighbourhood hacker.
