Come to think of it.... If all top ups are not counted as a spend and is not eligible for rebates, den it would mean that it is also not eligible for the bank account interest. That makes this card similar to uob one card

Very different, BOC much better. Firstly BOC not limited to just 1 credit/debit card, secondly can use BOC debit mastercard, thirdly get higher rebates for just meeting $500 spending which also matches the min spending for smartsaver bonus interest, fourthly rebate awarded monthly (not per quarter), fifthly more flexible rebate scheme ie can spend more on family card in certain months and get more rebates up to $100 rebate limit, not limited to tiered spending.

Don't see why need to resort to top ups.

not counted? for both cc cashback and smartsaver bonus interests?

Don't see why need to resort to Ezlink to meet min spend. Can spend on qualified spendings to get rebate on CC and also meet smartsaver card spend bonus interest requirement.

Cos my spending on cc for other items difficult to hit 500. Majority of the spend comes from ez link. Others are erratic

Ok. Tnc for card spend bonus, as follows. Prepaid/ezlink not in exclusion list. Trial and tested to top up ezlink prepaid last year before TnC for shop card was changed.

4.1 Card Spend Bonus Interest

4.1.1 An Account Holder must successfully charge at least the required minimum amount in all retail transactions, aggregated from any of his/her qualifying BOC Debit Cards and/or Credit Cards in the relevant month, where the Account Holder is the principal cardmember and the MCS Account main account holder. Transactions charged by a supplementary cardmember will be aggregated and consolidated with the transactions
charged under the principal Card Account. Only retail transactions with a posting date within that calendar month will be eligible (including IPP and Flexi Balance instalment payments). BOC is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission or posting of the transactions made by merchants or any other party.
4.1.2 The following are examples of transactions that will not be eligible:
a) Cash withdrawal transactions arising from the use of any BOC Debit and/ or Credit Card as an ATM card.
b) Fees or charges including annual fees, late payment fees, finance charges, cash advance fees, interest charges and all other miscellaneous fees.
c) Funds transfer and Cash advance.
d) Transactions on BOC Debit Cards and/or Credit Cards that are terminated at any time for any reason, whether by the Cardmember or the Bank, and
e) The unposted amounts under Instalment Payment Plan (“IPP”) and Flexi-Balance transactions
f) Any amount charged to the BOC Debit and/or Credit Cards that is subsequently cancelled, voided or reversed. The amount will be deducted from the total amount of retail transactions in the month that is cancelled, voided or reversed.
g) All other transactions as BOC may determine from time to time without prior notice.
4.1.3 An Account Holder’s Credit and/or Debit Card Account shall be valid, subsisting and in good standing at all times.

Hi, does anyone know whether there is any additional cost to set-up giro payments? For example to IRAS, or Citibank, or Singtel? Read in their Account Services Pricing Guide that there is handling charge $10 per application and processing charge, not sure whether it applies.

Was thinking of putting giro for iras, as they allow the 12 month installment through giro, instead of paying a lump sum.

Under standing order & giro services. I did check with the bank officer, and she said yes, but she seemed unsure.

Thanks! So when you changed your iras giro to boc, there wasn't any charge by the bank? Did you submit the change in account directly to IRAS?

Just to check, if I pay my cc bills or other bills through AXS by the BOC debit card, is the spending also included for the min $500 spend, to get the 1.55% card spend bonus interest?

Checked with the bank officer that paying bills through AXS by BOC credit card, is not included in the min $500 spend.

Also, if the bank account is a joint account, and i am not the primary account holder, does paying through my debit card qualify for the minimum spending? Or should I use the main account holder's debit card to make payment?

The website states " If your BOC MCS Account is a joint account, you will need to be the main account holder to be eligible. Other account holders’ card spending will not be considered as the requirement for Bonus Interests for Card Spend. "

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

1) Bank of China (Hong Kong) (2388 HK)

BOCHK announced that it has entered into an acquisition agreement with Bank of China (3988 HK), the parent company, to purchase the entire issued share capital of BOC Thailand and BOC Malaysia for HK$6.9b. Though the valuation of the transaction is not cheap, the acquisition would further facilitate development of its business and anchor its foothold as a regional bank. We maintain a BUY rating on BOCHK given its attractive valuation of 1.2x 2016F P/B and dividend yield of 5.4%. Target price is HK$29.50.
