Yes, I read that wheat bread can be steamed as well

But think hard to achieve that crust that wheat bread is famous for hahah
No doubt. You get a pau skin that my mum will never fail to peel, even though I made it with mine own filthy hands.

Next time, Ima eggwash some and plop em in the oven for a few minutes to brown. I wonder what the results willl be.

Yeah, I can eat 10 eggs at one go hahah

That's my usual go-to breakfast when I am overseas if the hotel comes with free breakfast - most of the other food are just processed carbs and sweet stuff

I also want to start making my own sourdough bread but haven't gotten around to starting the culture hahah

Freezing the bread is good as it turns into resistant starch
Takes 7 to 10 days for the starter to be useable.

Or, try asking from those bakeries selling sourdough bread. They will give you the starter. Just bring along a glass container.

My ex colleague bakes her bread with a bread making machine. Not sure it is going to be cheaper.

I went to buy bread.
Looking for a affordable bread.
But those healthy bread is very expensive.
And those low quality one is chap.
I go for $1.90 bread. (Daily's wholemeal bread).

The poor will probably die faster while the rich enjoy healthy food.

On the way back, took a lift with one elderly lady.

She look at the bread n the price.
I told her bread very expensive.

She told me she buy one packet of bee hoon cost $5.

I told her everything getting expensive.
who u voted??????

Confirm chop guarantee more sexpensive. From personal experience you WILL put in more premium ingredients. Brown sugar, premium flour (which you have no bulk purchase discount for)
Yotsuba milk, whole nuts you coarse chopped yourself (not the cheap smashed 2nd rate nut fragments bakeries use)

End up the result costs far more than what you can get at the shop. The satisfaction though is priceless as long as it doesn't come out charcoal.

I once made char siew bao at home... with char siew from a chinese restaurant lol.

Mmm I should get into sourdough making. Been meaning to do so...
Yah you should. The only difference is the long proofing time in the open. 8hrs from mixing. This is based on the temp we have in sg.
To another 24hrs +/- in the fridge. (this enhances the tanginess)

Most videos or recipes found online are in cool weather countries..usually in the low 20 degrees.

Bread machines nowadays can set the "resting" period for up to 8 hours or more after mixing the dough

Think this is for sourdough bread?

Otherwise, buying sourdough bread outside is expensive - Cold Storage prices start from $6 onwards

Most probably. Most bread recipes do not call for long proofing time because it uses commercial yeast.

One can bake rightward after 8 hours of rest, Just that the tang is not as pronounced.

It tastes absolutely different after a long cold rest in the fridge. The tanginess + salted butter is a potent combo tastewise
