Took a while for sg prices for s110 to drop. I got mine at 330-340 in Tokyo half a year back.

hmm

I picked up the S110 2weeks ago for my gf since S120 is arriving soon in Singapore.

I got it for $380 with canon powershot casing + $50 taka voucher.

It's a really good deal for those who want a simple point and shoot at an affordable price.

that's an amazingly good price ( even more so with the voucher ) for such a camera. It's well-built and the image quality is pretty good (well, not the best for a compact, but better than average ). I bought mine just a few months ago for $500.

I wish the Canon Sxxx series had a bigger battery though. Its shots per charge is pretty low for a digital cam.

What colour did you managed to get? I called a few shops but only left with white or silver...

checked with John 3:16 and SLR Revo, both similar pricing, 380/382, with taka voucher, SLR got cleaning kit though but got to pay cash.

still considering.

surprised that local havent launched s120 yet

John 3:16 quoted me $390 instead... Im more inclined towards John 3:16 if they can quote the same as the rest.

i bought it last friday at John 3:16, at 380. I guess, different sales person quoted u diff? both time I was there, it was only this guy there during lunch time, maybe early 30s. I also bought 2 16GB SD kingston from him at $12 each. saw both white and black, and I opt for black. the white looks ... plastic.

paying cash.

The RRP at the recent comp show at Suntec still $429. Ha. I still wondering if price will drop further when s120 comes out coz they would want to clear stock

the $380 only include casing? no other freebies like SD card, 3rd party batt, screen protector?

Standard 8gb sd card lor.

After much negotiation, they wouldn't even give free upgrade to 16gb or even a free screen protector

Apparently, the shops say they only earn abit of money selling this low

Read some posts on using the this for fast moving kids. I came this way years back, went for S90 then DSLR now Sony RX100 in search of non-blur photos as kids dun sit still and yet need something handy coz no hands to carry bulky DSLR, not to mention more ex and changing lens.

Dunno abt the capability of S120 digic 6- hope it does the job, but S90 didn't cut it, only outdoors with bright sunshine would be good. F1.8/2.0 PnS usually only at default focal length, the slightest zoom will start changing drastically. Thats the marketing. Using widest aperture at default focal length only became very limiting practically. Processor also becoming v impt, hope the digic 6 brings a good difference.

Indoors can't cut it, then again taking indoors moving kids are a challenge. Many blurred photos. I'm no photography expert and need to share the cam with even less skilled folks to use so the Canon was eventually sold.

Just sharing my experience, those getting for kids go find one to try it out first, esp indoors before losing some money on experiment like me.

RX100 eventually did the trick somewhat at a hefty price. Indoors, high ISO, no flash - RX100 makes a huge difference. Hope to see more innovation in this area of small 1" sensor and speedy cam from all manufacturers.

max acceptable ISO for S90 is 800, so when indoor the allowable shutter speed is abt 1/50-1/60 (in my home). not so good for movement, but it's still much better than other non-premium cameras' non-usable 1/20.
S100 has improved it to 1/80-1/100 n with acceptable ISO 1600.
now S120 comes with f1.8 n a much improved image processor, things will get interesting.
btw, i always use shutter speed priority in my S90/S100.
