I understand you have the privilege of being appointed to a position of authority, but I am not sure that my simple question warrants such a strongly worded response and likening me to a drug dealer when all I was merely asking was whether the view taken was based on a specific clause in the Terms of Service. It is almost as if an accused person in court asks "Can Your Honour or the learned Deputy Public Prosecutor let me know what is the charge that is being brought against me", only to face a rebuke "Don't you know why you are here? The Penal Code is very clear. It is not my problem if you don't know". I believe that's not how the system works.
I believe that you have now clarified that the basis of your decision is based solely on the subject title of this thread, namely "do not post referral code", and that there is no contravention of the HWZ Terms of Service. In such a case, I would venture to suggest that asking for a code is not the same as posting a code. Using your drug trafficking example, it is a crime to traffick drugs, but it is not a crime to simply say "Anyone who has drugs, please contact me" without a sale actually having been concluded or drugs actually having been trafficked or having even been in possession of drugs to begin with. As such, I respectfully suggest that the analogy is a fallacy from a legal point of view. In addition, any given rule or law needs to be understood clearly before any rules or law can be followed by the persons expected to comply with them, especially if there has been a change of interpretation of rules that had existed for a significant period of time. That is why the courts would render grounds of decisions whenever an new interpretation was being adopted, and they are in fact, very slow to new interpretations. All decisions made by arbiters need to have sound basis and that is why we have the rule of law. It is also usually advisable for decision makers to convey their decisions in a less abrasive manner. Accordingly, I do not think that it is unreasonable for me to ask for the basis of your decision or that it should be met by such a strongly worded message likening me to a drug trafficker.
I believe that the rationale at that time was not to have the thread spammed with referral codes but members could take it offline if they needed one. In fact, that position was adopted by your predecessor moderator for this thread prior to the current re-interpretation of an already established interpretation. I reckon that the prior interpretation also served the wider policy considerations of this forum to retain its members on this platform, whilst balancing the need to reduce spam, instead of taking a position that may drive members to seek another alternative platform for discussion to obtain what they require or to drive such discussions underground.
As such, I would respectfully request a reconsideration of the new position taken. However, if after such reconsideration, it is decided that the position stands, I am sure that people will abide by it, even if they may disagree with justifications given.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this.
The title clearly stated " Do not post referral code", isn't this clear enough to not to post, solicit or abetting referral?
What type of warning you need to understand the term (Do not post referral code). Are you trying to justify you're right when drug trafficking are seriously deal with and you post in the public forum you have drugs for sale and expect nothing happen to you?
There are 4 clone accounts killed, 1 p-banned for mass spamming referral, warning for 8 members and infraction for 6 members. Do I need to give everyone an official warning/infraction as a form of reminder?
