Anyone used cardup to pay for car loan instalment? Wondering how it works, my car loan is from DBS and I had selected to pay using deduction from my POSB bank account. So if change to using cardup to pay, cardup pays to DBS?

10char

hi all, need some clarification.

1. citi PM card is also excluded? Meaning using citi PM card for cardup will not earn miles?

2. for existing Giro arrangements like SAF AVIVA GTL and IRAS income tax, the recommendation is to use cardup and not to cancel the Giro arrangement? So if cardup payment is successful and is before the Giro deduction date, there will not be no Giro deduction for the particular payment cycle?

thanks!

2. Yes. But you need to pay at least few weeks in advance.

Even if miles are awarded for using cardup, it’s still not worth it. It’s pathetic attempt. Pls do your sum and see if it is worth it.

Thanks for compiling. Just some addons :)

1. If a bank 'accepts' cardup, then ALL cards issued by that bank will accept cardup transactions as valid for watever promos, whether cashbacks, points, miles etc.

2. Standard chartered should be added to the list too. There might not be a net gain after deducting the cardup fee but technically SC does not exclude cardup. Spree confirmed is a 'loss' after deducting cardup fee, but manhattan not sure. Very long never use liao.

So Can use Citibank reward card for the online 10X bonus point transaction?

Btw anyone try using Cardup for robo advisor like stashaway?

Understand that Cardup do not have recurring payment for Income tax payment. So for the income tax payment we have to make a lump sum? or we could request for GIRO arrangement with IRAS after that schedule 12 payments arrangement via cardup?

I email both Cardup and Smartly and Stashaway, Cardup and Smartly say they are fine with it and could apply the funds.

Only stashaway say cannot.

When registering a new card on cardup, is there a 50 cent charge, or is this charge just to verify the card and will be refunded later? I got charged this amount on my standard Chartered card and there is no refund after a week .

Finally it will show (un- posted) in the standard chartered statement. No matter how, cardup will not make you pay for this. It will be refunded.

Really? I didn't see that. previously my cc account not even posted those testing transactions. The recent $0.50 practice is posted and then (un-posted). Can see the transaction record in statement but not added to outstanding balance, so no need to pay for it.

Hi, do you cancel your GIRO arrangement with IRAS or do you just schedule the monthly payment via Cardup and the GIRO deduction will not be effected? How many days in advance do you pay prior to the GIRO deduction?

Appreciate the advice. Thanks.

There's no need to cancel the GIRO arrangement (in case you actually forget to schedule start-up payment).

So you need to pay via CardUp at least 14 days in advance to be safe.

I don’t cancel the Giro in case I forgot to schedule the CardUp payment or if I don’t need the IRAS payment via CardUp if I have sufficient CC spends for the month. If the CardUp amount covers the Giro amount, the Giro won’t go through for the month.

I usually schedule the payment such that the CardUp date is 2 weeks from Giro date and payment to IRAS is about a week before (payment date).

Additional note: The GIRO arrangement needs to stay in place so that IRAS only expects payment on a monthly basis.
