I have all the common tablet sizes:

3.5"- iPod Touch/iPhone;
4.3"- SmartQ V50;
7"- Galaxy Tab;
8"- Onda VI30;
9.7"- IPad

If u only intend to buy 1, I recommend getting the 8" 4:3 size. It is much better for reading, photos and surfing. Even for videos, the size is the same as for the 7" except u get black bars. Much handier and lighter than a 10"

The 8" are around 799-899 rmb and the 9.7" are 999rmb so I feel 9.7" might be more value. The teclast a10 also has full usb port, not micro and also ips. How long does it take for sgshop to ship to singapore from the time you place an order? Anyone know??:s11:

I have a tight budget so going for the best value for money tablet, which so far I feel would be the 999rmb 9.7". But by march, maybe the price different alr.

I agree, in terms of value-for-money, 9.7" is best if u don't mind the extra weight. For eg, for just S$50 more, I could have gotten the VI40 Elite instead of my VI30. I was impatient and didn't want to wait. I may still get it from merimobiles - very tempted!

Just scroll down to the bottom
The version 4.0.3
To flash, u unzip the downloaded file
Double click load the image file and click program

On the tablet u need to power down and power on holding the home key down as u power the tablet on

Hi
Yes. U run the exe
The exe will then be like a file manager
From there u choose the image file

At this time u power off
Connect USB then hold home and power up

Note even if u click to program it will update only after u power up the tablet.

Take note also it will minimize itself
Just look for it at task bar. Just don't pull the USB cable

After reading many reviews and comments, I am considering n7a or g2 for 7", onda vi30d for 8", and teclast a10 if I feel like buying 9.7". However, now no $ so I am waiting till maybe march. So just wondering, will the tablets be oos by then or maybe replaced completely by newer and better products? Heard that newer processors coming soon...

2) Can buy tablets either from sls or through sgshop, so which will be better for 1st time buyer? sgshop will be cheaper but need to wait dunno how long(2-4 weeks)??? SLS seems very scary, co many ppl con by the sellers. Any suggestions?

If u intend to wait till March, wait for the Rockchip RK30xx dual-core Contex A9. N7A has ended production. I'm expecting g2 to drop till around 499-550 RMB :) Cheap 9.7" will be a better buy compared to 8", that's if u don't mind the size and weight.

Sgshop takes about 1 week IF the seller shipped fast and not during the Dec and CNY holidays. SLS not scary lah, just annoying to me lol Merimobiles, MP4nation can consider also. Pandawill and Ownta (look for coupons) ONLY if they are cheaper than Taobao+agent fees/shipping.

Yes. The Onda Vi40E kinda good, but I'm really torn between Vi40E and SXSE Smart S11. From what I gathered:

Onda Vi40E
Bad:
Battery not very good. About 4 hours usage. 6500mah
Screen not perfect, forum say some white color defect
heavy (690g)

Good:
Better brand, better firmware
Cheaper
Merimobiles has promotion

Smart S11
Bad:
The brand is less well known
Slightly more expensive (but the 16Gb, battery, and 10pt touch screen totally worth it)
Merimobiles not selling (not sure why). Hence must buy through agent. More troublesome if had problems.

Good:
Good quality screen
10pt touch screen
bigger battery. 7500mah. Sanyo brand
Lighter. only 545g

Firmware wise, android 4 really had problems. Even big brand like asus, samsung are late releasing the firmware.

I went to view the sgshop and found out that there's a vendor from taobao selling onda vi40 at about 280SGD for a 16gb. Is this site trustable?

Taobao cannot be trusted in general. They send you defective goods.

Another one u can consider is the Cube U9GT2. About US$50 more than the Onda but decent reviews and battery supposedly better

Yes. I have considered this in the past as well. But the missing hdmi is a turnoff, also the A10 cpu supposedly better at decoding various videos, as it has hardware support for 1080p (even 2160p) videos

yes, u r right. i had forgotten about the missing video-out; that is quite a fun feature to play with although i don't actually use it very often on my Tab or VI30.

anyway, now that the VI40 seems to be making its way to reviewers, we shd be able to get some feedback soon

btw, where did u get the VI40 weight from? i am surprised - it is 5.4mm and supposed to be even thinner than the Galaxy Tab 10.1
