Very fast, its time of the year again!

Anyone confirmed heading to Chiang Mai for Loy Krathong 2019?

My planning is tentatively 8/11 to 13/11. =)

new gab car app for thailand just released 2 months ago..

download indriver from playstore or apple store and offer your car ride fare, you can accept or decline a few drivers offering their fare and accept the 1 that give you the lowest.so far been using this for awhile here and find it cheaper and also can compare the fare with the green car.:D

any1 tried to rent car n drive in chiang mai?

tot of renting for 2-3 days to drive to those far away places like don inthanon, etc.
So it's either rent car or pay $50+ per head for tour packages.

Need IDP?

Previously driven in Phuket, aussie, etc.

No need IDP but if you do have of coz is better. Renting of car is definitely much cheaper then tour package.

I've been driving in thailand for years when visiting provinces including chiangmai, was not asked about IDP. Last drove in chiangmai just last month, mostly use hertz.

But on recent trip last week i rented from AVIS at bangkok airport the counter said can rent car with SG license but if no IDP and Police check will fine 1k baht. :s22:

Perhaps it's the AVIS staff problem :s22:

Someone asked whether IDP is needed to drive in thailand. Answer is no need but being Thailand alot of things can be grey. Like what the avis staff said

Anyway it's good to have IDP to bring along.
