You can hire private driver.
Doi Inthanon national park consist of waterfalls, peak transfer to local truck to twin pagoda.
Early morning go better, mountain top can be more cold.

Klook got tour but more expensive

Sabai Tour Agency.
Visit the highest peak in Thailand which is approximately 2665 metres above sea level.

You will see the King and Queen Pagoda on top of the mountain and will also visit a Karen Tribe, Wachiratarn and Siritarn Waterfall.

Includes transport, fees and lunch.

What to bring
Something warm for the cooler season, your camera of course, water and Thai Baht

Tours leave daily from Chiang Mai, 8.30am to 5.30pm
Cost from 1400 baht per person

Price is cheap but need to see how many people in the tour.

Entrance fee is 300 baht per adult if you go by yourself, a few tour agencies around that area.

Yesterday saw Air Asia got promo to Chiang Mai only $100+. Air Asia direct to CNX.
I didn't do final booking so there may be some extra cost like tax.

Since you drive in Chiang Rai, I think you can try self drive to Doi Inthanon.
I did Doi Suthep Temple and Mae Kampong. Doi Suthep Temple go morning not so hot.
Can go mae rim and old city.
Later I add a few more.

Looks like a well-considered itinerary. I assume that you plan to collect the car at Chiang Rai and have it returned at Chiang Mai? $290 looks cheap for 11 days and the car collection/return arrangement. I suppose you worked out driving distances, time for attractions etc. I did not drive in Chiang Mai but got to experience the winding roads going to Pai. I see that the roads are mostly of this nature in these parts of Thailand.
