Saw in eBay there is a model called EPad with 2GB ROM (S$80++) and 4GB ROM ($120++).

Did anyone buy this model before?

If not, is there any model that we can get at around S$100, but with reasonable quality and warranty?

My sister is hoping to get one for her kids.

It should be one of those VIA WM8650 800MHz tablet. One of the best selling China tablets in the world due to the price. It's resistive screen (meaning those older screen you tend to use stylus), some have 2 points many older generation don't.

Warranty depends on the seller you buy from. Quality reflects it's price. Firmware/software support depends on seller, unless you know how to DIY.

hi all

I am considering to get a 10.1' china tablet around the $300 range. I was a former Nook Color user so have play around with quality tablets before.

After using the Nook Color, my preference when it comes to tablet is the battery life and screen size ("10 in"). Currently considering ZeniThink C91. Anyone used it before?

Is it possible to get locally or I need to go through merimobiles?

C91 screen not as good as Nook Color. If you have high expectations, I suggest you go with mainstream tablets like Galaxy Tab 10.1, but then it'll be much more than your budget.

You can also try look for those tablets with IPS screen, it should give you better display. The current 4 top processors in China are Allwinner A10, Rockchip RK2918, Vimicro VC882 (weak on 3D), AMLogic 8726-M (most likely to replace WM8650 tablets as low price tablet).

Good luck finding your tablet:D

AMLogic 8726-M might replace all. It is suppose to be Cortex A9 MPcore.

Yes it's A9 with Mali400, but it's 800MHz. However it can play 3D and video well. Actual performance wise, Allwinner A10 is still better.

Current problem with A10 is the lack of competibility with some apps/games. Many of them can be fixed a mod build:s7:

Edit: BTW Novo 8 is 8726-M, but Ainol choose Allwinner A10 for their new Novo 7 advanced.

Not familiar with these CPU leh. You know which tablet are using? The IPS I see pretty close to my budget is M10.

But the battery life should be quite bad. Using the Nook (I think 4000mAh) not very good.

IIRC, Freescale IMX515 800MHz is around for about 1yr. The good thing with older processor is that most are fairly stable as there's already time to work on it's firmware.

M12 runs on RK2918. Battery life is acceptable for China tablet. Try look for review, the full name for the tablet is aoson wopad m12.

You can also look at cube u9gt2, which is using RK2918 and the thickness & size about that of Ipad2:D It'll likely cost >US$300.

If not in hurry, be like me wait for allwinner A10 9.7" IPS tablet to come out then decide=:p

hmm got some specs on the allwinner one? Can't seem to find.

I found this Bmorn v9 and it seems intriguing. The specs was similar and it looks super slim. Only battery don't seem very good. But all these 8".

The M12 looks good also.

Not familiar with Bmorn brand^^;

allwinner now only have 7" tablets. The Ainol Novo7 Advanced that quite a few bros here bought recently (including me) runs on Allwinner A10. It's very new in the market (<2 months), but it's gaining lots of interests :)

Don't only rely on seller's review, try search around reviews from users. You'll get a better idea what you are buying.

The Cube U9GT 2 is the slimmest and lightest China Tablet I came across. 9.7"
http://www.electronicschina.org/cube-u9gt-2-rk2918-capacitive-best-android-tablet-review/

IIRC, the thickness is from 4.99mm to 7mm and 480g.

edit: the taobao price is actually quite attractive to me

shd be a WM8650...needs to root else, the stock firmware, 1.5.5 might be "slow"
1) Angry birds games are laggy...
2) Fruit Ninja is like matirx...slow mo
3) movie watching is best with AVI format

AVI is the container and very unlikely will have an impact on system performance. How computationally intensive a video is, is determined by its encoding, such as x.264 or VP6. You can put a x.264 video in an AVI, MP4 or an MKV container.

Depends on luck. Of course you pay more for warranty.. taobao order is maybe 10% chance that you might get a defective set. I ordered electronic items twice from taobao and both turned out ok... :D
i bought before but it get spoilt after 1 mth:s22:

User friendliness is really subjective. There are many people who are trying to transform their 2.3 to look like Honeycomb all because it is more user friendly! Remember, user friendliness also involves a nicer looking interface. Everything counts.

Sharpness appears compromised on a high quality tab because the display is operating at a higher resolution so it is necessary that you use the correct version (HD) of the app. Its like you have a Blueray player plugged into your 42" LED TV, but, you played a VCD and got unhappy with the quality. VCDs looked "good" when played from a VCD player displayed on a 21" CRT TV, but you just cannot use the same content/media on new technology and expect it to magically appear to be as good. Problem would be solved if you had played a Blueray disc or at least a DVD. Similarly, run HD apps on HD tablets.
