Why would they do that? I thought the consensus is that ICS has a better UI than GB?

:s13: Because it's not made for u=:p

SXZ is a GPS maker company, maybe they think GB is a more comfortable UI for customer base.

Or maybe they are trying to tap into those wm8650 user or 2010 chipset user who are used to GB UI. Or those China mobile phone user, 1st time buying tablet. THOSE are huge market share. Not all ppl like changes:s8:

Viota (UK/US) m970 US$120 (about 760 RMB) 9.7" IPS Allwinner A10, 512MB (there'll be 1GB version) RAM, 4GB, 6000mah battery:D
Budget-friendly 10-inch Viota M970 tablet unveiled, to only cost $120

FINALLY a 9.7" IPS tablet price that makes sense:s13: 399 RMB for low end 7", 599 for 7" IPS screen, now 760 RMB for 9.7" IPS screen.

760 RMB is better than what I'd expected, which is 799 RMB. BUT I didn't expect it to be so soon... ah well not that soon cos it'll likely appear in 2 months time.:s8:

Hi,
I'm new to tablet worlds. Basically i'm looking for a nice, good performance tablet mainly for my kids use. Mostly use for games, education software and watching movie. Occasionally for me playing games...:) What will you recommend if my budget is below S$300. I'm looking for those in bigger size. Also, do you recommend buy online or go to a local shop? Any local shop to recommend? If buy online, will we have problem with the warranty / repair?

an android tablet is great if u r a techie or enthusiast who likes to tinker ard with his tech toys. but if this is yr first tablet and particularly, if it is for the kids' use and taking into account your budget, i really suggest u consider getting a refurbished iPad1. lots of educational apps for kids.

i saw it selling for ard $350 at the Apple Store (may not always have it).

Official Apple Online Store Singapore - Buy Mac Computers and Notebooks, iPhone, iPad, iPod, and More - Apple Store (Singapore)

follow the link on the left under "Refurbished". it's like new with brand new battery, new casing a 1-yr full wrty (unlike the MIC tablets where u can't forget about any meaningful wrty). personally i think it is great value.

now that the iPad3 is out, the iPad2 refurbished price should drop soon (still not yet updated at the Apple Store) but will be above your budget. but there are lots of people selling their iPad2 at attractive prices to upgrade to the iPad3

on the MIC 10" android side, the closest competitor to the iPad1 would be the Window N80 and it is selling for a rediculously expensive $389 at SLS. plus it does not have bluetooth (which means u can't connect to a bluetooth gps)

do your comparison and choose wisely

One question regarding China tablets generally: I notice that Bludtooth is always not available. Even for the latest tablets like this Onda VI40? No Bluetooth also? Any reason wh

Prices are purchase from local shops or online?

Prices are in USD from an online site that I can't find now cos the thread seems to be deleted from this forum... anyway, you can go to Taobao to look for prices... but they are in the same ballpark.

There a good difference in price if u compare taobao + agents and those spammer website.

example:
A10T 999 RMB + Agent shipping 2kg is S$253.50 (You get this around 5days)
Online shop (find a reliable one) is around US$240 which is about S$303 (The free shipping takes about 2weeks to reach, DHL will cost about US$25 more)

Since u try so hard to convince yourself, buy quickly:s13: I'll likely pay cheaper 2months later for a RK30xx 9.7" :D

The mods should delete those spams. Tablet den is turning into a spammer nest. Use IMP3 or ZOL for real useful info.:s8:

Comparing specs alone means nothing. They don't tell u how the screen is outdoor, how strong wifi is, how's the build, how's the firmware support, how's the actual weight, how well it's assmbled, etc.

Nah... I was just curious as there are more and more 9.7" and there were a lot of opinions being bandied around... so I just decided to put everything together and see how the dust settles... the current price is too high... I probably can get a second hand branded tablet for close to the price of the N90 in SLS... removes the incentive to buy China tablets...

If you really think so, then stop looking at China tablets and confusing urself. There are more China 9.7" tablets compared to what u'd listed.

edit: Mind u some of ur specs are wrong. Like N90 there's no HDMI, also all A10 chipset tablets can output 2160p

dude, compare Apple with Apple!

u were looking at the 32GB. i was referring to the 16GB (i.e. same as the N90) which was going for less than $400 even before the new iPad was launched.

at one stage the 64GB was even going for only ard $500 at the Apple Store. not all the models are available all the time at the Apple Store.

getting a good condition iPad1 for S$350 shd be no prob now that the new iPad has been launched.

In the US, following the launch of the new iPad, the refurbished iPad 2 16GB is going for just US$349 or US$359. So u can imagine what the new prices for the refurbished iPad1 should be by adjusting accordingly. It will def have to be less than US$299.

In Singapore, the refurbished prices have not been adjusted yet and the refurbished prices for the iPad2 are the same as the NEW adjusted prices announced by Apple!

Personally, i bought a brand new-in-box sealed iPad1 64GB wifi for just $510 last month with 1-yr Apple wrty.

Prices move very quickly and u need to stay up-to-date! Otherwise, u will end up with a lemon when u could have got a cake!
