Oh I thought people buy ciem cause of the advantages of ciem other than sq. like better fit, better isolation, better comfort

And because it's perhaps cheaper and easier to buy a flagship ciem than to reshell a flagship universal

But as rubick has said, does that mean that ciem companies are the best iem makers out there even if they decided to go into universals?

It still dependa on the fit i tink. Coz by going custom with the perfect seal and isolation u will listen to the iem like wat it is actually design to sound like.
Regarding universal version of the ciem, it wont sound as gd as the actual custom

hm...

thats not what i mean actually

I'm trying to remove all the unfair advantages that CIEM has and compare drivers and sound to drivers and sound.

That's why I'm comparing either customs to reshelled IEMs or universals from CIEM brands and normal mainstream brands.

like is a reshelled flagship IEM better than a flagship custom that a custom company has to offer? Regardless of price, different sound sig, tastes, and whatnots

like aside from westone and ue, how come the other companies don't produce ciems? And how come even for westone and UE, they don't produce ciem version of their flagship models?

Imagine UE selling custom tf10s, or westone with custom um3x

I do agree though, that to really get the most true and sound from the iem, the best is to reshell it to remove other factors such as fitting issues and isolation, leakage etc

for me i tink the heir audio 4ai universal is one of the best universal iem i ever used. westone and ue do have ciem like the es5 or uerm

no one understands what im trying to say :(

I meant aside from westone and UE, cause they have their ES5 and PRM... but those are skewed because they use the best audio technology and drivers available to them... I am comparing purely CIEM internal tech vs universals internal tech... not about fit issues and stuff like that anymore...

:( Normal people dont understand me for spending money on audio... audio people don't understand me when i'm trying to ask questions....

:(

What he's trying to say that is will ciem manufacturers be superior iem makers, coming from the fact that they have superior knowledge and skills in building iem related items.

Its hard to say actually. They have to balance out cost and skill and mass production is obviously very different from making single boutique items. While you can say that their experience will allow them to design better iems for mass production, from actual reality, looking at UE, westone etc there is simply not much difference

Is it because of the fit??? o_O

The fit for the universal version of 4a is just like other universal iem.

From my listening, the custom 4a is about 10-20% improvement over the universal version

Nice :)

Very curious, what were you using before you got the 8a?

Comparing universals and customs abit off imo.

UE had UE10 before the UERM (I think they just rebranded it though), and it's was widely recognized that the UE10 was flat/neutral. Does the TF10 sound flat to you? Both were flagships in their own right years ago.

Different products for different needs I suppose :x

Edit: And I don't even know what am I relying to :s22:
