You need to have huge stockpiles of cash (>250k) to really take advantage of the higher-tier interest rates offered by Starsaver.

I'm guessing most people in that situation would likely have better investment options.

does CIMB inform us when they have activated the account successfully after the $1k deposit, and thru what manner? Email? SMS?

For 75k, fastsaver is still better at 2.5%. For starsaver you need at least 500k to reach 2.5% and higher.

I thought there are many cash rich folks in the RHB accounts with >400k. Haha…

you mean you can PayNow out the $1k before/while they activate the account?
How would that work when you wouldn’t even be able to login to ibanking to set up paynow lol.

I suggest you call up the bank to find out why you couldn’t transfer funds out. I didn’t have any issue transferring out once my account got activated

I also just found out that my acct was not activated when I try to transfer $ out, after 1 mth. Even though interest was credited into the acct on 31 Oct, apparently my acct was not activated. The whole of Oct nobody from the bank contacted me to follow up on the acct activation until now that I have to transfer $ then I found out after calling the bank.

ya I was surprised too when everything from fresh signup, $1k topup to eventual withdrawal was completed in just over 2hrs

Mine also went so smooth and promptly until I can't recall anything about the whole process now.

What's the minimum amount we need to put in to prevent it from being closed?
