yup just hav to wait.. to be fair all the other banks also waiting time quite long for opening accts. just that they shouldnt ask for 1k deposit upfront maybe.. then ppl would be ok with waitingForget about calling. I've tried twice and was put on hold for a long time. Will just go to their branch once my fam is back end Jan. Quite pissed off with this experience. Imagine how many 1k they are holding ransom and pushing it back to us our fault.![]()
RHB opens seamlessly within the day itself. My fam applied for both RHB and CIMB on same day submitted similar document. Can't see why CIMB has to play such game of asking for 1k and hold things up. My fam has got CIMB cc thus can log in to see. She isn't new to the bank at all. The account was open but unactivated. The 1k in there can see cant touch. She can't even pay her cc bill with the 1k. This is insane. Anyway no point getting angry. Only can wait till she's back then go down to the bank nyup just hav to wait.. to be fair all the other banks also waiting time quite long for opening accts. just that they shouldnt ask for 1k deposit upfront maybe.. then ppl would be ok with waiting
To be fair, I believe this is standard security best practice among all banks to train customers to not believe phone numbers provided in emails, in case the email was spoofed.I did receive an email response from atyourservice@cimb.com that said "In the event of non-receipt of activation code, please contact our hot-line indicated below and our customer service officers will be able to assist with your enquiry upon a simple phone verification." The email did not provide a hotline number. Instead it said "You may visit our official CIMB Singapore website for our banking hotline number or reply to this email."
My translation -- we are not going to write down our hotline because we don't want to be swamped with calls, but we have a hotline and you can call it.
Fair enough. I did a quick search through my email for the word hotline and I see numbers from Citi and AIA in their emails but it could well be that others don't include that info in their emails. To be fair, I believe this is standard security best practice among all banks to train customers to not believe phone numbers provided in emails, in case the email was spoofed.
I just looked through my transaction notification emails from DBS, UOB, and SC, and they don't provide their fraud hotline phone numbers in their emails either.
Finally. Wait for CNY to see can beat 4.1%Hi all. Closing the loop. My account was activated this morning. I didn’t follow up over the last few days as I have been busy. Happened automatically. All in all, took about 4 weeks.
u can set up digital token on cimb mobile app, u need to wait for 12 hours after setting it up before u can use it, maybe that is why it still prompting u for OTPAfter 21days , cimb activated my account. But I changed my mind and want to transfer 1k deposit back to my dbs. Cimb mobile app requires me to enter OTP which is generated on security device. but I am not given such device.
Do you know how I can transfer back 1k from fast saver ?
My transaction email from Citi says:Fair enough. I did a quick search through my email for the word hotline and I see numbers from Citi and AIA in their emails but it could well be that others don't include that info in their emails.
Every email from their secure center has “Help is available 24 hours a day by calling 1-866-535-2504(inside U.S.) or International users call 1-904-954-6181 (collect calls accepted) or by email at secure.emailhelp@citi.com.” And then again at the bottom “Important Information: To report a scam/fraud on your account or for fraud-related issues, please contact us immediately at +65 6225-5225.”My transaction email from Citi says:
"Alternatively, you may call our 24-Hour CitiPhone hotline available on our Citibank website for assistance or any other enquiries."
I don't see any recent emails from them with a hotline number.
Thank you for advice. It was due to no digital token .u can set up digital token on cimb mobile app, u need to wait for 12 hours after setting it up before u can use it, maybe that is why it still prompting u for OTP
Are you Citigold or something?Every email from their secure center has “Help is available 24 hours a day by calling 1-866-535-2504(inside U.S.) or International users call 1-904-954-6181 (collect calls accepted) or by email at secure.emailhelp@citi.com.” And then again at the bottom “Important Information: To report a scam/fraud on your account or for fraud-related issues, please contact us immediately at +65 6225-5225.”
@Shawny88 Thanks for sharing this. Wanted to check if the FD was truly backdated to the date you deposited the funds into your FastSaver account? Or if you are still waiting on that.Dear customer, we have received the initial deposit for your new CIMB account. Due to the high volume of new account applications received, we seek your understanding as more time is required to process your application. Rest assured that upon approval of your fixed deposit (FD) application, we will back-date your FD placement to the day of receipt of your full FD funds. Thank you.
Actually if you read the reply carefully it's mentioned "we will back-date your FD placement to the day of receipt of your full FD funds." It doesn't mention anything about Fastsaver account. To me it could mean that if there was a delay transferring from Fastsaver account to FD account then they will backdate the FD placement. Not sure if that covers the scenario of delay in activating the Fastsaver account at the initial stage.@Shawny88 Thanks for sharing this. Agree but since in an earlier post he also mentioned the CS mentioned it was when it was deposited to FastSaver, hoping to see what eventually happened.Actually if you read the reply carefully it's mentioned "we will back-date your FD placement to the day of receipt of your full FD funds." CIMB is still the highest or near thereSeveral including local banks have updated/increased their FD for Jan 23; now waiting for cimb to make their adjustment.
