Trying to port out Circles $0 plan to Maxx but Circles rejected port out request saying it needs to confirm identity. What nonsense? Should I email to IMDA? Porting out is supposedly a no question ask procedure as long as there is no outstanding bill.
BTW, M1 maxx is changing the $0 base plan terms on 15 oct'24.
Effectively on 1-Nov-2024, if customers don't buy any maxx plan or add-ons for the past 60 consecutive days, then he will be charge $5 for the base plan every month !

Wow, if the user is not given the option to turn off, this is definitely a measure against porting out rules. Users are not required to contact donar party but Circles is doing otherwise. In that case, just leave it to IMDA to sort out, worse to worst, just give up the no. ☺
I think the option is turn on by default for every CL customers.
At he moment, BEFORE you do any porting, you can turn it off (if you're aware of it) then proceed to do porting.
BUT if didn't disable it first and tried porting and failed, then it could only be turn-off by CL CS.

This company has got to be the worst ever in history to deal with. Originally intent to port out only 1 line and keep the other 2 lines but this company is superbly unethical and the customer service is #1 in making customer irritated.

1. Please disable the "SecureMe" nonsense in their app before you attempt to port out. (Just google for instructions). If not, they will cause your port-in to fail and they may also happily cut off your signal (not the line though) and you will be left stranded for days/weeks.

2. Their "happiness" expert is superb in saying/doing anything except the actual thing needed.
i) If you tell them immediate cancellation and do not bill anymore, they will tell you its scheduled for termination at the end of the month.
- So does it mean I will get "upgraded" and continue to get billed at the higher rate since I am scheduled to only terminate at end of month? Is this right way to attempt to earn another month of subscription fee?

3. These freaking (to the extent of lying) expert doesn't even understand what CL is billing. When I went through the bill with them, different "experts" can read it differently. (Can they even read properly?)

4. I have informed IMDA. However, these freaking "happiness" expert keeps removing IMDA from the email and for anything, they will keep asking for your ID/last 4 digit of card number for "verification".

5. After one bunch of emails, the "senior expert" confirmed I will have nothing to do with CL anymore. Yet I still get the nonsense "we will be upgrading your plan" emails. Have asked to speak to their Data Protection Officer / human in charge since they confirmed I have nothing to do with them anymore but their "experts" are just hiding behind their computer.

-----------------------------------

In Summary
1. Don't wait for the day and take action immediately .
- Disable the SecureMe nonsense if you wish to port out/keep the line
- Cancel the line *IMMEDIATELY* if you do not need the line

2. Before you do the above, consider updating the CC number to a "dummy"/"spare card" and lock the card.
- Once they allow you to port out, they will cut off your signal and you will have no way to update your CC details.
- Be it port-out or cancellation, would you feel safe to have your CC number with this type of company?

LOL at "happiness experts"

I ported out the $0 line in July and 2 $10 lines in August,
didn't encounter the secureme nonsense or any other problems

ironically, if circles had not made those changes to the $0 plan,
I would have kept the 2 $10 lines used by school kids

Ya, circleslife charges me $10 for roaming when my phone was using heya as my main data simcard and it was connected to maxis hotspot. I called and they say it is due to not turning off roaming from their app, thats why i was charged. i port out the very next day. This is nonsense, i was not connected by wifi or data to circleslife but yet i was charge bcos of their app. how would i know anything about it?

Similar situation.

If not for the port out nonsense which gave me so much hassle (and no signal for ~5 days), I would have continue the other 2 lines.

Plus their "experts" perpetually try to act as if they are helping. All I can see is their attempt to keep customers, delay the port out or attempts to charge a few more rounds of subscription. After they agreed to let me port out, they simply cut off the signal (despite me paying a full month of subscription) did absolutely nothing after that.

Actually I already have the "written email confirmation" I have nothing more to do with Circle Life but yet they keep sending me emails about "upgrading of my plan" and I will be charge xx after the plan is upgraded on xxxx. This really annoys me.

Likely will fail. After the thing is turned off, you can only tell your new telco to initiate port in the following working day, after 6am.

If it doesn't fail, I am happy for you.

If I read it correctly, Maxx $0 base plan is still valid until further notice.

It is still valid, however the conditions to qualify for the plan has changed.
I know this is Circles.Life thread, not Maxx, but would you mind to explain the change? I can't see the impact of "If there is 90 consecutive days of non-usage of Data, Outgoing Calls and/or Outgoing SMS services, the promotional discount will be revoked and you will be charged $5 for the base plan for the month. Refer to www.m1.com.sg/maxxtnc for the full T&Cs."
