Car did slow down. Maybe not as slow as cyclist would like it so that the cyclist can chiong across the zebra but driver did slow down enough to stop before hitting the errand cyclist.

If you're slow, it's unlikely the bicycle will hit you unless the cyclist is blind. The problem comes when the driver "tries to beat" the cyclist, thinking he can avoid him by crossing the zebra crossing first.

This is very common at green man right turn junctions as well where some drivers like to beat crossing pedestrians by zipping pass in front of them.

There's no evidence the driver tried to beat the cyclist. Especially since the car slowed approaching the turn, not speed up. It is more probable that the driver did not see the cyclist when driver checked right, due to cars blocking the view. Then driver check left to see if any pedestrian crossing from left and finally right again to notice the cyclist who did not obey traffic rules ("must stop and look for on-coming traffic before using that crossing or crossing the exit or entrance;") . Luckily for the cyclist, the driver was alert and driving slow enough to stop completely ( fulfilling "The driver of every vehicle approaching a pedestrian crossing must proceed only at such speed as will enable him to stop his vehicle before reaching the crossing." ) without injuring him.

This is a super busy NPark and playground zebra crossing with a lot of small children crossing it and kids that will dash across the zebra crossing any time without "obeying" traffic rules.

The cyclist slowed down and veered to the right. If he didn't slow down and veer off, he would have knocked into the car. The cyclist is not riding very fast so the driver could have seen him if he slowed down to stopping speed.

You mean LTA? No mah....now dont have. No need to dismount. Many years ago there used to be, same for bicycle licence plates, many years last time have. Like last time RZ, now is ERP.

I think the rule still stands. Unless it is a crossing for bikes.

As a cyclist myself... I always stop first make sure car driver see u, driver stop first them I cross

I am a driver and I really think some cyclists think we have 180degrees vision at crossing.

I have countless time, while gonna turn left and slow car at zebra crossings, check left, clear. check right, clear, and start to press the accelerator and suddenly from the left side a bike appear from the blind spot at high speed and dash across the zebra crossings……..then I have to brake.

did I not slow down and check, yes for sure. But I just feel that these cyclists really take their life for granted cos all it takes is a driver who don’t pay attention……who is at fault does not matter anymore because the cyclists could be so badly hurt that he/she is forever on a wheelchair or even dead.

the biggest loser is still the cyclist and I really don’t know what’s wrong with some of the thinking of some of them.

some of them also cycle and one hand holding the phone and chatting and the bike is like wobbling………..
