Cyclists are definitely in the wrong to beat red light. But pedestrian should check left and right for incoming traffic and ensure the vehicles stopped before crossing despite the green light to cross the road.

You cross road like this, you sooner or later will report downstairs fast.

Siao, so what if traffic lights in your favour?

As pedestrian, you never ensure and cross get run down by cars etc (even if they are wrong) then you go complain to hades that you are right ah?

Knn so what if traffic is in your favour but now you are dead because you did not ensure traffic stopped?
One can have right of the way, and end up dead.

The pedestrian technically not wrong.. but he is really risking his life crossing traffic light like this... you never know if there are crazy speeding vehicle trying to beat red light.

This is not even trying to beat red light. This is blatantly ignoring/disregarding and crossing red light. So many cyclists got such bad habit.

Think generally got observed that some cyclists and pedestrians tend will just cross road when its light traffic and no one looking. Its human nature. Not limited to any one group. Some drivers also can chiong red light. So, not all will strictly stick by the rules. Just more easy for cyclist to do so when on straight road traffic light perhaps

Especially ebike perhaps. To them not much matter red or green. Just whether traffic is empty or safe enough for them to cross or not. Cause they smaller and more agile, pick up very fast. Few seconds can cross big junction, much faster than typical motor traffic from stationary. Can cross before any traffic can react, especially from start stop traffic during traffic light change.

Therefore can never take the rules for granted and can never be too careful when using the road one. Need to look out before crossing. Regardless of in favour or not.

What if cyclist don't want to compensate the pedestrian

Usually in such cases, many would just gun it and leave the scene even though the cyclists are at fault.......and trust me i have seen it countless times (as a cyclist myself, having clocked over 30k km now). Some would just stay and see if apologies can be accepted. Compensation, i think can forget it.

The second fella seems to be at not fleeing the scene though....with the first one slowly checking things out and see if the second one is gonna gun it.

Both seem to be pinoys but difficult to ascertain 100% from the vid.

Side topic

But nowadays, also....many pedestrians seem to be crossing like a boss more as well. Be it mobile phones totally oblivious to everything (green man or even red man just cross) or just cross like a boss without much fear from oncoming traffic.

Just saw 2 runners crossing like that just now during my run (Im a runner too, my interest is in duathlons now), with 1 nearly being mowed down by 2 vehicles twice just outside 1 Marina Boulevard which is a 5 lane road, he just ran across the road like a boss with 2 oncoming vehicles coming round the bend from Robinson Rd / Raffles plc and the cars horning away.

Several times i have also seen runners crossing just outside Esplanade across Nicoll Highway, diagonally run across the road......while i was running or cycling. Really reckless.

So, i think it's just human behaviour in general.

Like this also can run across one...... and there are zero pedestrian crossings for that junction. Quite power.

You know those small roads within housing estate like 2 lanes per side, and usually will have some crossing (not zebra crossing) in the middle for people to cross. I literally have to shout at a si gina trying to cross blindly while staring down at his phone... while a freaking truck is incoming.

Cyclists don't have 3rd party insurance.

If one hits you, you claim your own personal accident insurance.

Whether or not it's worth to sue the other party, it depends.

The cyclist could of course volunteer to make restitution, especially if the cyclist is charged in court.

Entirely different issue. You are just retorting for the sake of retorting.

Very clearly the two cyclist flouted traffic rules and got involved in an accident with a pedestrian.

Fact.
The fact is, that jogger don't bother to see before running across the road. He was in jogging on the spot position already, but decided to just close his eyes and dash across the road.

As for the cyclists, they are doing what we motorbikers called a Defensive Riding. You might not know, when there is a red light and all the heavy vehicles stopped, it's safer to cross and get a head start. When cars move off from stop position, they might not notice the cyclists. So we cyclist will get a head start and move off first so that the drivers can see us clearly. Hence, the cyclists are protecting the drivers by being extra careful.
