Not talking about this specific case, but seriously i have seen too many cyclists having zero lights or having tiny lights that are just NOT visible to other vehicular users @ > 50-100m away and moving at > 60kmh, and then some of them decides to ride across a crossing pretty fast even when it's red man. And then quite a few of them wear black / dark colours. Some have very dark complexion too. Either the rental bikes or those foreign workers.
These cyclists just do not have common sense at all.

I literally had close shaves with 2 guys just now while riding recreationally at the PCNs / MBS, GBTB and MBE area + shenton way. (I started at 4.30am). One fugger was cheonging for the lights and dashing through at > 20kmh even, no lights and i was looking at the direction of oncoming traffic. He could see me tho, luckily...... (coz i was all decked out in lights)

ps. BY LAW, cyclists are supposed to have be lit up during dark. It's by law, not by their own personal choices. Of course, in reality, that is very often not the case.

worst is those cycling from your left to right when u at zebra crossing

u think clear liao they suddenly zoom in from your left blind side. Never slow down or stop one. Increase speed and cycle

really jialat

Do sala don’t face music
Make ppl gone in such manner
Sad case

5.07am. Could be recreational solo rider, could be commuting to work (foreign worker also possible) . Probably banged on the road, but there is a chance it could be at a pedestrian crossing/zebra crossing. No details in the report.

Just reported this :
he police received an alert regarding an accident involving a car and bicycle on Nicoll Highway towards Guillemard Road at 5.07am on Tuesday (19 Dec).
Maybe thinking this time safe but end up has such driver

ps. And as a driver, you know how dangerous is the above? No lights (somemore dark clothings), and the drivers' eyes are not light adjusted when they enter from a full sunlit condition into the tunnel.
driver horn for what
driver think he cannot b on the road but govt allows??????
cyclist thinks he own whole road for his safety
imagine such ******* on bus lane

EXACTLY, bingo. I was a driver last time for more than a decade, so i fully know what you mean.

For me and how i teach my kid nowadays, any crossing be it traffic lights or zebra, you can cycle across and no need dismount (which is fully legal). But eyes on oncoming traffic at all times + you brake to literally walking pace, ie 7-8km tops. This is to let the cars/motorcyclists able to ID you.

And of course, for our bikes, *multiple* side lights + helmet light. The positive identification of a cyclist by other vehicular users is of paramount importance.

Cycling is a nice hobby and form of exercise. But some people play that hobby until like life is very cheap.
(i use it as a form of cross training so that i can improve my running as well, and vice versa)

5 am is still dark and this driver is either drunk or sleeping or speeding that can knock a cyclist without much or no traffic

Driver is murderer!

One more thing, you might have across some cyclists (esp rentals like SG bike) in which the bugger is on their phones.

Do be careful. One time nearly had a head-on collision with that fella as i tried to avoid and siam but he just had to drift towards my direction.

The bell no use one. I had to shout very loudly. For all you know, he is on his earphones too.....coz watching movie / social media vid?

Really fcukers.

I tell my kids at zebra crossing, make sure car stops before u walk. It’s ok to be slower than the rest

same for traffic lights and when cars do discrete turns. Make sure u see the car slow down, or stop before u walk on.

Now walk on pavement lagi stress

got pmd to deal with

:(

Yeah.....also need to check clear your 4-5 o'clock when crossing at turn right or those green arrow turns.
Too many accidents of those nature @ pedestrain crossings liao.

This is made worse by riding across at > walking speeds. Walking speeds or slightly above that is fine, if you check clear that is.

Not uncommon to see some speeding in silver zone too. Bike and car.
