Think have to get a foot in the door first bah. Then have the opportunity to push the door wide open. Just like how WP did. This is a not very forgiving system. And most people are conditioned not to have that leap of faith.
To be honest, I am not really confident about the inner structure of PSP.
What happened if TCB retire completely ?
Who will be the one in charge ?
Will HP allow it ?
It is through winning a seat then they can keep the party alive.

Yes, usually those seats carved out as SMCs are PAP strongholds or places with popular PAP incumbents.

The most winnable SMC this time is Jalan Kayu and it looks like a multi-cornered fight will help Bro Ng return to parliament.
Yes, and as PSP are mainly active in West, Central and NW previously, they would not even be allowed to stake a claim on Jalan Kayu. North is also not WP’s main area of activity. So it appears to me that only the smaller opposition parties will contest Jalan Kayu and ineed NCM will make an easy return to parliament

Actually TCB is already preparing for succession in the party. he is more or less taking a less hands on role in the party.
But Something tells me that with Hazel Poa opting not to challenge LMW for the sec gen post recently suggest that maybe something Is happening internally. You won’t be Sec Gen for one term and then suddenly not want to contest for the leadership post in the party.

There's a small chance of WP contesting Jalan Kayu, especially if they are contesting neighbouring Punggol GRC.

But if WP doesn't think they have done enough groundwork in Jalan Kayu, they might skip it this time.

I think it's quite likely that WP will contest Punggol GRC because they have been walking the ground there in anticipation of a new GRC being carved out.

Hopefully Desmond Lim and his pathetic SDA will move off to Pasir Ris - Changi GRC and not demand to contest both halves of the old Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Got a feeling that there may be some internal storm brewing if HP also want to be in the limelight.

Then mayors positions have to be removed and the mps capped yearly. Think u are partly wrong on how the pap understood this. Pap was formed by lky and it has his DNA in it, now that he is gone the pap is in a mess. Long before pap came in, in which they were opposition then there were many political parties. So take a look at the history first.
Forget about the past. Last time policemen wore shorts. You may have 11 opposition parties during pre-post independence. That's why the incumbent decided to crush them using all sort of methods including operation coldstore.

Fast forward today. Singapore no longer needs 11 opposition parties as most of them are too weak, and the mindsets of voters have also changed. They do not want to see so many opposition especially those uncredible ones. It is a simply waste of time.

They cannot put every eggs inside the same basket.
One of them have to go for SMC.
It is a case of who should be the person.
Got a feeling of Hazel jumping the gun since the party is not decided yet.

There will be no NCMP this time if response is good.
It's simply not enough to just win a NCMP seat; typically powerless - even though NCMP raises relevant issues, the parliament will just dismiss it as "noise".

It's still not late for TCB to prep for succession. At least, they are on right track like WP.

PAP also first started as opposition - no?

I'm aware of that fact. Yet Tan Chen Chen got 35%.

In a GRC the advantage of Sun Xueling will be negated massively as you are voting for a team

Tan Chen Chen got 39% against SXL

That shows Punggol demographic isn't so safe for PAP. If an unknown WP candidate can get nearly 40% against a well-known MP, it means Punggol GRC will be close if WP sends a good team.

Yes, as long as you don't control the parliament, you deemed as opposition.

MW did great by making it the government of Singapore. After which, they have to crush all opposition parties to ensure that they continue to rule the country.

I’m not worried about Desmond Lim contesting Punggol GRC and making it a 3 corner fight. His party is too weak to take away any meaningful vote share from WP. If he really persisted on going to Punggol GRC, I think he will poll at most 2-3%. Maybe even lesser 😂

side track. where CSM now. like disappeared ?
WP’s Low Thia Khiang, Chen Show Mao & Png Eng Huat have retired from politics. That's why you didn't see them contesting in the last GE.

Before retirement, CSM had internal fight with Low, and Chen lost. I believe the party has requested him to step down.

And that's where the bell curve comes in, believe that currently it's at down trend.

Other than the multi-corner fight, another factor may just be voters spoiling their votes to show their disatisfaction towards the ruling party... =(

WP and SPP wasn't rich last time. Didn't stop them from doing walkabout every weekend.

It's the heart that matters. Talk big no use, show your actions. Ppl like LT can bugger off
Voter want to see candidates on the ground chit chat with them, not shoot off mouth on social media
