I have a conservative risk appetite. I don't think property speculation is for me.

As for a home to stay, my current plan is to stay with my parents till they pass on, then stay till the HDB lease is over and then buy a 2-room flat.

Of course, this plan is subject to changes in the future.

Sure. I respect that. It's good that you have a plan and even better that you're carrying it out.

like i said before, if this guy has a fully paid property and this sort of cpf, he is very strong.

if he just stay in parents home, then there is nothing outstanding.

actually if he doesn't use it for property, 700k+ at age 44 is also very strong isn't it? He can potentially break 1m in CPF before 50.

Assuming he starts work at 24, which means 20 years of contributions. Excluding interests, it would still mean he still maxes out his annual limit almost every year.

Or is there any other way to accumulate huge amounts of CPF reserves?

Of course you cannot exclude the interests, it's a very sizable amount.

I just look at my own projection tables, I will also have this amount at 44 if include the OA amount I withdrawn for housing so it's not a unreachable figure. 1M in CPF before 50 is also doable base on my projection. Just don't use OA for property.

Assuming the lowest 2.5% interest for all contributions, someone who works 20 years with annual CPF contribution of $37,740 will have 988k in total CPF contributions, including interest.

even if you have used oa for property, you can still calculate by adding the withdrawal and accrued interest.

Thank you.

Who dares to haolian when Kenny is the undisputed champion?

Anyway the reason for posting was mainly to share cpf is a effective vehicle for retirement planning if used wisely, contrary to many naysayers.

And you right in saying that it itself doesn't paint the whole picture for financial health when it doesn't account for housing. Your balance is impressive despite using a chunk for housing. Unfortunately not many will be achieve that with housing prices a lot higher now compared to when we bought our homes.
