Crazy surge in Singtel data usage !!!

If you saw it and if you were using Singtel, you should have added 4G VAS which was free of charge last year, even if you did not have a 4G capable phone at that time. Then you get to enjoy 4G speeds if you buy a 4G phone later without contract and still have 12GB data. Some of us did.

i monitor my usage after reading this thread, I'm on StarHub btw. gonna warn my gf who is on Singtel, and to think I was angry with StarHub charging me for the first minute instead of seconds since may 2013, looks like it's nothing compared to what you guys are going through. where are our rights?!

Starhub, first minute charge even if you talk for 30second.

after first minute, they count by per sec.

Now only m1 is per second billing.
Looking forward, I might use of the 12G to deploy VOIP with my families and close friends for cutting down the amount of money paying to telcos...

As long as no renew of the contract, thry will keep ur 12GB plan, my bro has no contract since may 2013, still having 12GB..

Singtels Terms and Condition as of 2013Oct.
They now removed the minimum 50KB per session. They rephrased it to $0.50/session now. Still same.

2.3 Data bundle on SuperLite/Lite/Value/Plus/Premium/Prestige/BlackBerry price plans & Mobile BroadBand Value Added Service are for local usage only. Promotion for excess local data usage is charged at $0.01/2KB (min. of $0.50/session) up to $5.35 per 1GB till 15 September 2013. Local data cap on Flexi price plan and Broadband on Mobile Value Added Service is at $94/month (including GST) till 15 September 2013.

2.4 Excess local data usage is charged at $0.01/2KB (min. of $0.50/session) up to $10.70 per 1GB. Local Data Cap on SuperLite/Lite/Value/Plus/Premium/Prestige price plan and Mobile BroadBand Value Added Service is at $188/month.

Starhub terms and condition don't mention any minimum KB per session. They might be doing the same.

I am not sure if I am to switch to Starhub when my Singtel contract ends Nov.

Under iOS7, you can check which App is sucking the mobile data bandwidth. Go to Settings > Mobile > stroll down to 'Use Mobile Data For:'. You may wish to Reset Statistics at the bottom to start monitoring all App at zero usage.

Within two weeks, my mobile data usage went up ridiculously to 1.7GB when I always use less than 1GB every month. After checking the list of App, I discover that Viber App had used 1.4GB! All the rest of other Apps (& system) only use 300+MB. Well done Viber!

i am on the same boat.

M1 normal usage on 3G was within 2GB (even though i had 12GB data), after upgrade to 4G and iP5, data shot up to 25GB with same usage :/

I've switched off syncing of any kind of data and its still bad. within 2 days I use 2GB ?????

User-generated usage not withstanding (facetime, web browsing on safari and etc), the number 1 suspect in data usage on my phone is.. System Services..

within 6 hours of getting an iP5s on iOS 7.0.3, "System Services" already ate up 12.7MB, with 10.1MB of it being "Software Updates". What software updates?! It is a completely empty brand new iPhone, with NO additional apps (other than stock apps), NO imessage (or even sms), NO video download of any kind, NO iTunes or App Store downloads of any kind. All without me doing anything with it.

LTE/4G will sucks your data real fast. Just switch to 3G and use Wi-Fi when at home or hotspots. You can test it yourself by just watching 5 mins video on YouTube using 3G or LTE and see how fast your data is used up. Cheers..

One of the likely reason in this scenario is that some websites or apps will actually auto optimize a "user experience" by detecting your connectivity and adjust, let's say for example, video streaming quality, accordingly, without you doing anything. Many users will indeed zap up their data usage faster than they previously did on 3G.

mine was facebook, using the most about 500mb... but none used as much as yours.

It is not the iPhone that shows it is cellular or mobile data. It is your language settings. UK English is mobile data, US is cellular data

how do you show each individual app usage? my iphone 5 only shows total usage??
