Bonus for calendar month is awarded on following month, typically on 16th.

If your statement is generated before 16th, the bonuses will not appear in that statement.

i think its useful if your spending for the month exceed $2K. if you break by installment ( assume 6 mths 0% ) then you will split into $400-$500 each month and earn 5X points. helps with your cashflow too
