wa...? how come Transcend rams so expensive? i tot kingston ram considered 1 of the best?

I don't know. You can ask Darryl from Memory World, Funan Centre. He says its much more stable than Kingston Ram. Corsair is also much cheaper...

I checked the Transcendusa site and its also the same high price.

But considering that Kingston and Corsair etc are charging $100 less - u ought to think carefully before buying.

If someone has a site which can point to a benchmark performance test of the rams- please post it.

Get an old 100% cotton tee shirt and cut it into 2 pieces.

Wet and squeeze dry 1st piece to wipe screen and immediately use 2nd piece to dry.

Hi Dell user,

Can I ask if my M1210 laptop is able to support 3.5G HSDPA? I see there is a simcard slot at the back of the battery compartment. THus, I am thinking of subscribing to M1 Mobile broadband.

If the Mini-Card (HSDPA) does'nt work, you should be able to use the Mobile Broadband ExpressCards on your computer.

You may want to give DELL support a call first.

The support CD has the software for HSDPA. Probably I try out with my friend sim card. Yeah, like you said, if can't, i will just have to use the PCMCIA card. Thanks

Please make sure whether it's a PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot; they're 2 different things.

Vista jus came worldwide on 30th jan. now its out in sg. u had to pay the shipping payment before right? guess it shipped from elsewhere.

anyway.. i see u upgraded the processor to 1.83G and 2G ram. that's wat i was tinking of upgradin to. but i see the base score so-so only... =[

currently dell is selling 640m 1.66Mhz, 1G ram (2x512M), and 120G harddisk at $1.67k. dunno if its a good buy anot.

Ya, the base score so so only, but I do not have problem with the Aero interface, infact Aero is very smooth and fast with the latest WDDM Drivers from Microsoft Updates.

And yea, my laptop and gaming rig minimum must be 2GB, gonna buy 4GB ram for my notebook and gaming rig soon when the price is right.

640m, personally I'll not buy any notebook without NVIDIA or ATI GPUs. The major criteria for me to purchase a notebook:

1. Must be Core 2 Duo, AMD no thank you...

2. Must be 2GB RAM, expandable to maximum of 4GB is a MUST...

3. Must be using SATA Hard Drives, IDE no thank you...

4. Best if its 12.1" Widescreen LCD, if not 14" Widescreen can do, but not preferred...

5. Must be using either NVIDIA (preferred) or ATI (if no choice) GPUs, nothing less... no Intel GMA thank you...

6. Must have at least 1 year total protection similar to Dells Complete Cover...

7. Acer, Prestigio, Toshiba, Fujitsu, no brand laptops, immediate disqualified...

Well... I never liked Dell initially, 7 years ago... but since I used it and started looking for "gaming model" laptops, Dell best fits into my criteria so far...

Exactly! I like Dell cos can customize and they have the 3 years complete cover warranty. Service wise i think they are really good.

Service wise I would say they are in my good books.

Alot of my friends couldn't believe that Dell did a one to one exchange of my XPS M1210 cause I complained of a buzzing sound which is irritating to me especially late in the night when I'm typing my reports or liasing with my US customers.

And they promptly place a one to one exchange for me and the new unit arrived within 4 working days, after which i've done moving my data over to the new unit they courier the old unit off.

I've never known such support from HP or even IBM... much less to say unknown unheard brands and some brands like Acer, Fujitsu blah blah blah...

To me a laptop is as good not only as the components that is used, but also the service and support.
