Hi fellow dell users, would be getting a M1210. Can anyone share some info on the battery life for the 6cells? Some reviews stated it can run for 3-4hrs. Dont know true or not. Cos really hate the extended 2.5cm of the 9cells. 6cells only extend out by 1cm.

Btw, I intend to get 1GB ram and upgrade another GB myself. But the option I can get from dell config for 1GB ram is 2x512... Is it possible to ask them to install the 1GB ram instead of the 2x512?

I've had an M1210 for just over a week now; and it's a great machine. Only issue I've got with it is the keyboard flex; but strangely, I actually saw someone's M1210 not having the same flex.

My guess is that the 6 cell may run for up to 3 hours maximum depending on configuration (e.g. if you're using the 7400 graphics processor. The 9 cell which I opted for can run for about 4.5 hours using the same.

When the Dell service representative calls you to confirm the order, I guess you can ask them if it's possible to swap the RAM. If it's not allowed, you can always cancel the order there and then.

Using 1.5GB DDR2

I intend to buy a 1GB DDR2 ram for my Dell laptop, the total amount of ram after the intended upgrade is 1.5GB. Is it OK to use this configuration? I know that I may not be able to utilitise the dual channel but does that mean the performance of the laptop will decrease?

You may want to call them and confirm if warranty is void if you add RAM from outside.

it will not,but when ur laptop got problem and if they find out it is due to the 3rd party ram that causes the problem,they will void the warranty.
