Should not have any issues to dual boot.... just install in separate partitions

Dell won't even know.... you can easily remove the RAM before you send the notebook for servicing. There is no seal or sticker to remove before you put in the RAM.

If you have the notebook with you, you know what I mean.

Yes, no seal. I just installed a 1GB RAM to my Dell 640m yesterday.

In fact, I had my self installed 1GB stick of RAM in my laptop when the Tech was changing my motherboard.

He just took it out, replace the board, and put it back in.

No questions asked

Yeap the HDD sound is natural. It's the architecture of the model to be blamed.

And so yeah I'm practically 95% satisfied with this M1210.

But one more minor problem to ask ya'll (at least for now) is how to change the refresh rate of the LCD from 50Hz to 60Hz (I have the original harddisk replaced and reinstalled the drivers etc)

Thinking of adding more ram, looking at the price DDR667 is currently cheaper... thinking if it will be ok to mix in with DDR333... Any advice ? understand though not recommended.. but only the 667 will run on 333.. Correct me if i am wrong.. thanks..

From what I know yes your 667 will only run at 333 along with your other RAM. If possible check whether your motherboard supports 667? If yes just change both.

Dell 640m CPU Temperature

Dear All Dell 640m users

Just want to check with all of you here, what is the CPU temp under load?
I discovered mine is about 65 deg C to 70 deg C when doing video encoding. Is this normal?

These temperatures seem quite high as compared to my AMD X2 desktop. I know that I can't compare an apple to an orange and that is why I am seeking advice and comments from all of you here.

Registry Cleaner

Hi, I have been using 6400 for about 2+ months already and currently is very happy that I have bought Dell.

One question that I need you guys' help here... I have been using Win XP Manager for my periodic system maintenance job. I used it's Registry Cleaner to clean up my system registry periodically as well and it would ask me to backup the registry prior to clean. So when it does back up every time, the backup registry folder would be saved on my hard drive C:. So since I have done a few registry cleaning tasks already for these past months, I have quite a few backup registry folders now whereby each folder contains +/-50 MB, the question is, whether is there a need to keep all these backup registry folders or I just need to keep the most recent one and delete the rest, as these folders will consume up quite a lot of hard disk space over a period of time.
