In fact, dell got promos everyweek or so. Sometimes, free 512MB ram, sometimes Free dvd burner .. U got to check often.

Any idea theirs best offers so far, waiting for the right time to buy. Would waiting for the PC show in June make them down their pricing? Maybe new notebooks may be out then.

my advice to u is, if you need 1 laptop to do ur work. better get 1 now. if not, patience always do u good in technology

Yes, sometimes they have that kind of promo, but its time limited, qty limited. The last offer lasted all of 3 hrs before the coupon went inactive. Plus, Dell has a sneaky habit of upping the base price before these promotions. Its a good deal, but not really all that fantastic. Plus tax is 8%++ in california, or 6-7% in most states (with a few exception like New Hampshire, but then again who lives there?)

Sorry Naro, sold a big bunch of 700ms at below 1.5k these past two months but I'm out now. Waiting for a good deal on those latties and 9300s. I've gone completely off desktops. Just not flexible enough. Anyone got one of the 2405FPs? Any opinion on those?

the 510m offer is pretty good now. after rebate is like $1,599. weight about 2.3kg is reasonable and 14" lcd is easier on the eyes.

wats the difference between the Dell 500m and Dell 510m??

issit that the 500m is using the Banias chipa nd the 510m is using the Dothan chip??

- Dell warranty is international or regional? If inter, i will ask my friend in USA to buy for me (cheaper)
- Is 1 year warranty ok? How many of you normally have hardware problems within 3 years? I'm quite careful person.
- I read quite alot of opinions on other ws and they say Dell service SUCKS!!!! What is yours?
- When sld i buy it to get the cheapest price(i'm not rush). Summer or Chrismas?
- Are there any other sources in Singapore to buy 700m except buying online? (certainly with cheaper price and trust).

i've never used a Dell before, so i cna't answer ur qns..

but i can answer ur last qn. U cna only buy Dell laptops from their website. That's the reason why their laptops are one of the cheapest around cos they dun haf middle man..

If you buy from the USA, you need to get the 3 or 4 year plan. When you select the warranty options, click on "help me choose" will tell you which has the international warranty.

The price looks cheap in the USA, but after sales tax, and all the shipping costs involved, it might not turned out to be that cheap after all. you need to compare the total costs involved to see if it's really that cheap. I know cos i bought it from the USA.

another thing you can do is also look out for the online coupons. search the ws for dell coupon and you'll see the discounts. the best is to wait for the 30% disc, if you can wait.

The price for Dell Inspiron 2200 Celeron model looks pretty ok leh? OK kah just for normal use, no gaming. Or add $ get Pentium M 725 1.6GHz?

Or go for the entry level Inspiron 510m?

Dell Latitude D410 has speaker port problem!

my office recently bought 2 sets of Latitude D410 and found that the speaker out port was defective. after 3 visits by Dell to change the motherboard , they still could not fix it.

in the end , they upgraded me to other better model.

to think a brand like Dell can have such problem really poses a concern.

i will swiitch to ibm thinkpad ......
