Suggest you backup your complete drive before you start messing with the partition.

yo bro? must backup? cannot just formatt everything and do a vista installation again?

window vista i noob.. but frm xp backwards.. i nv done any backup.. just plain new clean format and install

If do a clean install, you'll loose your DELL PC restore, DELL diagnostic, MediaDirect and all the bundled software.

If you can accept that, than go ahead with clean install.

*ignorant of which dell proggy will do good for me

hmm all the softwares, most r redundant right? n they have backup copy on the other discs?

mediadirect, so far useless right?

Dell diagnostic, hmm this seem the only impt at least to me...(if i do clean restore, can't get dell diag back)?

May be Santa Rosa is coming to town?

Unlikely because of santa rosa, dell has to delay the shipment. It is because the one that is ordered is not santa rosa and why do they need to delay those. I think maybe shortage of laptop component. Dunoo

You can actually run DELL diagnostic from the CD provided.

I find MediaDirect useless also.

So basically it is safe to format everything and do my own partition right?? And just loaded with vista with your own partition and just load back all the driver from the given CD. Correct???

FYI it is totally new, I haven't done or installed anything yet.

I've done it with XP with no problems.
