XPS only available in Sept!!!?

I bought the Dell XPS M1330 notebook on 09 July 2007. I was given 23 July 2007 as delivery. On that day, it was changed to 27 July 2007. I called up Dell as I need the notebook urgently...and guess WHAT?!

I was told my notebook can only deliver on 10 Sept because of shortage of LCD screen. Two months to get my hands on the notebook...... :s31:

I was told there is a shortage of LCD screen and it affect not only the XPS but the colourful Inspiron series as well!! Can you believe it?!

I noticed when they cannot deliver, they will state some component out-of-stock. Do anybody face the same excuse from Dell??

I think they have very poor planning on their inventory or production. Comments? Ideas? Objections?

I was thinking to cancel the order too and wait for better offer. However, the customer service manager said that they cannot even gurantee that the LCD screen will arrive on 10 Sept. So, even if there is a better offer later, I'll ve to re-queue and wait on the list.

And the bad is that I can only use Dell model for my co.

I just find it hard to believe that it take so long to get hold of the LCD. Can't they get it in samll batches? Anyone have the same experience?

Thanks for the info, guys. I agreed with Diavonex. IF it's geninue, they should make the effort to bring in the LCD screen in small batches. The cost will be higher for them but they should bear the cost instead of making the customers wait and damaging their reputation and service.

If i am the service manager, i will also say the same thing. What is there to say?!!! This is sale talk. A tactic to scare buyer.

By that time, i can assure you that new model will be out from asus will be out by the end of August.

Well, I can't use other model. So, cross fingers and toes that some miracle happened and Dell get their stocks sooner...although (dammit) i still think they should re-stock the screen in small batches and fulfill customers orders first.
