Good Day,

for users of Dell Inspiron 700M, has anyone try connecting the 4 pin Firewire to a MiniDV Camera. I cannot get a response from this laptop, there is nothing wrong with the Camera as i brought it down to Sony, test out ok. Cable is ok. Response from Dell is that their Firewire port is low powered, suggust me to get a PCMCIA Firewire Hub to connect to my MiniDV Camera. Anyone experience anything like this before.

would like to ask dell desktop users, esp. 8400 users, can the PC be upgraded? i.e. change Power supply, motherboard, DVDRW in the future? it's a standard ATX casing right? thinking of DIYing system, but dell's package quite attractive too, $2,186 with 6800 video card, 16xDVDRW, 17"LCD 160GB SATA HDD etc

just realised this is the mobile section forum, hope its ok, found my way to this thread through a search

4 pin firewire ports are WITHOUT power. 6 pins and 9 pins then have power.

Try plugging in the firewire... and power up your camera from an external power source instead. Usually works.

Yup why not, its based on the standard computer industries parts.

In fact, any Dell Desktop users using the 8200, 8300, 8400 (ie the higher casing) will find that the casing is a very well built casing. (no screws need). Plus, its built to open like a clamshell and easy for upgrading and modding.

If its the looks that you like, why don't you look at the Inspiron 6000 on the website.

Coming to the Singapore Kiosk in roughly 1 week's time.
