I need help with a issue i get with the dell website.

When i go to the 1520's page: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1520?c=sg&cs=sgdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

I am offered 2 choices, with the ability to customise the orders. Expanding the grey tab will show the tech specs.

The cheaper "Perfect Blend of High-End Multimedia & Enhanced Graphics" goes for $1699, with the following specs:

Processor
Intel® Centrino® Duo Processor Technology - Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7100 (1.8GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache)
Operating system
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Memory
2GB (2x1GB) 667MHz dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM
Monitor
15.4" Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) TFT Display
Hard Drive
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Optical Drive
8X DVD+/-RW Drive with DVD+R double layer write capability
Graphic Card
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS with 128MB GDDR2 dedicated graphic memory
Network Card
Integrated 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Service
2-Year Limited Warranty (Next Business Day On-Site* Service)

There is a free 2GB ram upgrade this week.

The more expensive "Portable Performance with Enhanced Graphics" goes for $2299, with the following specs:

Processor
Intel® Centrino® Duo Processor Technology - Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7300 (2.0GHz/ 800 FSB/ 4MB Cache)
Operating system
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Memory
1GB (2x512MB) 667MHz dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM
Monitor
15.4" Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) TFT Display
Hard Drive
160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Optical Drive
8X DVD+/-RW Drive with DVD+R double layer write capability
Graphic Card
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB GDDR2 dedicated graphic memory
Network Card
Integrated 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Service
3-Year Limited Warranty (Next Business Day On-Site* Response)

No free ram upgrade.

Customising the cheaper version to match the specs(and the microsoft office home and student 2007) of the more expensive version reveals a much lower price tag, even though it supposedly recieves a $350 cash off, as compared to $500.
In fact the cheaper version's free ram upgrade makes the deal even better.

Am I missing out on something, cause if i dont include the microsoft office home and student 2007, and in exchange add in the 1440x900 screen, the price is a cool $2060, which is by far the best price i have seen for a laptop with a 8600 gpu, and a high res 15.4" screen.

btw, when they say the 2gb ram upgrade is this week's special, do they mean it?

Yeah, why take white one? Previously all Dell lappies are silverish and white so there is no choice but now there are about 8 colours to choose from!

And for your infor, my 640m's whitish areas are the portions that I have headache cleaning!

After cleaning, apply a thin layer of wax e.g. Lemon Pledge

Spray the Lemon Pledge onto a piece on cloth and apply it on areas like the palm rest.

Your sweaty palm is acidic, it'll attack the paint work. Most people's notebook have two round patches on the palm rest.

The thin film of wax will protect the paint work and it's easy to remove dirt from the waxed surface.
