HP better still, corporate user, the calls were routed to India if i didn't remember wrongly. Office printer not working, called them, troubleshoot a bit on the fone with them, take down email and stuff, no news. Called again a week later, dunno why must give them details again, take everything down, promise to email and call, hear no balls again. Another week gone, another colleague called, go thru same thing again, same story! Hahaha. After 1 month and 4 calls to HP then someone came.:s22:

Can I ask Dell users how reliable they think the current batch of Dell notebooks are ?
Say compared to other brands like Acer and HP ?
I am thinking of a Dell Vostro 1320 but friends tell me that nowadays Dell build quality is not good and give frequent problems. :(

I've been using Dell laptop for 5 years now, usually its due to my boar-ness that I either spoil the keyboard or drop and and some thing cracked.

But I've grown to always purchase Dell's complete cover, just a few weeks back my Studio XPS 16 got a flickering screen thingy and a slightly cracked front bezel, upon request Dell comes and change the entire screen including the bezels for me. This you'll not be able to get such service from HP, IBM, SONY or Apple, no other brand does this for you...

So the 3 yr On-Site service from Dell is the same as 3 yr warranty ? Anything that is not covered by the 3 yrs warranty, like battery etc ?

500gig 5400 SATA
Microsoft Office 2007 Basic

xps420: It is a good laptop you have purchased to me. Why is the delivery date 14th Dec? Usually it takes less than 2 weeks to arrive.

The Inspirion brand is sold mainly for Home/Personal end-users.

The Latitude brand was sold mainly for Business (corporation) end-users, but now even home/personal and SME end-users can purchase.

The Studio brand is sold mainly for middle range of end-users.

The XPS/Alienware brand is sold mainly for multimedia/entertainment high-end-users and/or gamers.

The Adamo brand is sold mainly to end-users who likes luxury and style.

I do not know the specs on Dell Studio 15 though, but it should be alright for students' usages.

No doubt, Dell offers the best service so far but there is one catch, most of the replacement parts are not brand new. Mostly are refurbished items.

I am wondering does all components inside the laptop is brand new or refurbished when i first bought?
