i just bought a U2312HM monitor from sitex. The guy say it a 5 yr warrenty monitor..But the invoice does not state anything about the warrenty..So how does dell know how many yr warrenty is the monitor?

You look at the stickers pasted on the box. Mine stated 5 yrs warranty somewhere on those stickers.

Thanks..Bro..I found it...

No prob!

To add on, there's no need for you to register your warranty with Dell. When it breaks down, just give them a call and have your serial number ready, with proof of purchase of cause.

so the box will have a sticker stated 5years warranty ?

i'll be heading down to sls this week to make my purchase.
most likely taking the 23" de ba as it will also be at my room to rust =x
only using it to do some light surfing, movie and gaming abit *dota2, guild war & diablo . *

the difference btw the 23" n 24" only the size right ? the spec other then tt is the same right ?

NO !
Dell online and i suspect most of those in SLS also 3 years warranty only !
best u check BEFORE payment if 3/5 years warranty ...
also, if buying from SLS shops like TradePac ... make very sure you see it is stated as 5 years either on box, or receipt BEFORE paying up ...

and also, ask if they allow pixel testing (basically just put the Dead Pixel Buddy program onto a flash drive, connect monitor to pc/laptop ... connect flash drive to that ... and cycle thru the various colours) ... and what is their policy in the event that u do encounter a problematic pixel etc ...
and if they don't allow, and got pixel issues once home, what is their policy ... bring it back 1-to-1 exchange ? or must go thru Dell / Ban Leong (distro) ...

** incidentally, if you do come across a dead/stuck pixel ... you could try these (before ringing up whoever it is u have to for RMA) :
UDPixel
Dan's Dead Pixel Fixer
do read up via the links above ...

it's not like 23 & 24 = 1" difference ...
it's a huge difference !
my room has 1 24" (personal) & 2 other 23" ... the 24 dwarfs them both :D
aspect ratio of 23" is 16:9 ... whilst 24" is 16:10 ...
to get an idea of the physical screen size difference (without stand) :
23" = 323.3 mm x 546.4 mm x 59.5 mm
24" = 361.6 mm x 556.0 mm x 64.9 mm

imho, if u can afford it (difference abt $100) and dun see yourself changing monitors anytime soon ...
the 24" is more value for $
entry level monitors has more or less shifted from old 19" to 23" ...
24" sits between that and the 27" panels ...
and as i've said, if u could afford ... go for the 24"
you won't regret lah ! :D ... well perhaps one ... you could need some getting used to smaller screens thereafter :s13: :s13:

no worries ...
btw, think i wasn't really clear on the Tradepac statement :
i mentioned earlier "also, if buying from SLS shops like TradePac ... make very sure you see it is stated as 5 years either on box, or receipt BEFORE paying up ..."

my bad, i meant to say that if they say 5 years (i was NOT implying or misleading that they have 5-year warranty ones) , that you gotta check and not take their word for it, and just make payments ...
also, dun be swayed by what they say eg Dell not so good, xx brand better ... cheaper ... or that model u want no stock, suggest another Dell model ... stand firm !
if dun have, or shop trying to talk you out of your choice of monitor ... bail out !!!
they could be cheaper, but (i) higher profit margins / (ii) older model / less popular ... they wanna clear stocks
not just tradepac, if any other shops u sense using this tactic ... act likewise ...

check earlier posts of this thread reg purchase from SLS ...
i didn't really read up on those cos i was set on getting from fairs ...

EDITED :
thk sls shops mentioned for best $ WERE :
Best Bargain
Best Price ... or Best Buy (cant rem)

remember to check that they give you the power cord ... it is not in the box .... given out separately ! :s13:

The lowest for U2412M was at $360. Still hoping for the monitor to cross way below $350 mark.

What is the optimal settings for U2312?

I find that the out of box monitor is very bright.

2413 is coming i heard !

googled ... and it seems that it might be slated for March 2013 (States) ...
and the other thing is ...
it's meant to be a replacement for the U2410 (higher end than U2412)

to the dude waiting for $ <350 ...
it's worth the wait if u gonna be buying a van load :s13:
(ok, perhaps 3 units and up) ...
if it's just for 1 set, what's $10 ?
for that $10 savings, u might risk out on being able to secure a set when the day comes that it is truly EOL ...
by then, u'd probably have to pay more (for something u dun wish) ... or pay less (for something u dun want) ....
