I have no luck with display port.
1st attempted to connect my previous PC via display port. Cannot.
now I try to connect SH HD STB HDMI out to display port of monitor via converter .... also fail lol
so those trying likewise for SH to Dell can forget abt the dP route. luckily shop in sls agreed (before i paid for item) to a full refund in the event that it doesn't work. saved $28. cos I suspected it might not work beforehand.

i was thinking of using for my macbook air via mini DP to DP, i am currently using it via mini DP to VGA adapter
the best part is even the apple retailers, online stores don't sell the cable

so far i found 1 seller in HWZ which carry it.. and just wonder if i should try it out

well u could try the shop i mentioned earlier ...
Future Electronics Technology, #02-49 (i chanced upon this shop from this thread i think) ...
before my purchase, i'd told him of my reservations abt whether the cable would work, and the owner Steven was the one who offered to give me a full refund in the event that it doesn't work
(not many shops will do so these days, full refund)
brought it down just now for refund, he didn't try to push me for trade or anything ... good to his word and refunded me

perhaps you could seek the same route (refund if not working) ?
perhaps mine was a one-off ...
but nothing to lose (dunno abt $ of mini-DP - DP cable though) ... as compared to the online seller (who might also do likewise and refund you :s11: )

good luck :)

1 question, if i want to use this with a device that only has hdmi output, this one can work right?
Amazon.com: Monoprice 3ft 28AWG High Speed HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable w/ Ferrite Cores - Black: Electronics

it should work ...
using this for SH HD STB (HDMI) to Dell DVI input

but can buy locally ...
SLT basement shop (opposite DIY hardware shop) ...
or online ...
or HWZ : VARIOUS CABLES
dunno if cheapest or got cheaper elsewhere ... search HWZ forums bah ...

alternatively, if u already own a HDMI cable ... can just buy the adaptor (i posted the pics several posts before) ...
saw it selling for abt $7 from that SLT basement shop yday

Yup. If you're using desktop its better to get the adapter to put at the desktop side, if not it'll get a little messy behind your monitor if you leave it at a high position.

if put a HDMI to DVI converter at the back of desktop, it means will be using a DVI cable connecting to this monitor right?

let's say I already got a HDMI cable and want to use it, so I will attach a DVI to HDMI adapter at the monitor, right?

yes, adaptor shown earlier cannot be used for this
it's gotta be a HDMI (M) - DVI (F) adaptor, and u will be using DVI cable instead of a HDMI one
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...d=1041902&p_id=2080&seq=1&format=1#largeimage
one more thing, may not matter ... but never know ... depends on your back panel ... HDMI output section ... got space to plug in that adaptor anot such that it is not obstructing other connections ....best to just have a look before committing on purchase
btw, just curious ... are you connecting something else in as DVI ?
imho (i stand corrected) i didn't see much diff DVI direct vs HDMI-DVI ... but that's just me perhaps :D

yes, if using HDMI cable, then you stick to what was mentioned in previous posts
ie DVI (M) - HDMI (F)
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...d=1041902&p_id=2029&seq=1&format=1#largeimage
... bearing in mind that as another bro had pointed out, the bottom of your monitor would be a tad messy (u might see your HDMI cable, how much depends on the gauge of your cable ... thicker gauge = thicker cable = stiffer)
for most (non-fussy) users i think not a problem ... but might look fugly if say u wall-mount or those ergonomics arm thingy ...

For only $2.06 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDMI® Male to DVI-D Single Link Female Adapter | DVI <--> HDMI
