Thanks for the tip, did not realise the savings by going for bundle/combo. For CPU I'll pick between 13700 and 13700k given that the price difference is not large. So if I decide with 13700 I should pair with a Gigabyte B760M and if 13700k to pair with a Gigabyte Z790M?

Yes my case can use air cooler, I see that you reco Thermalright peerless assassin 120. Is this sufficient for me?

Next left with GPU... RTX 4070 I saw a few quite similarly priced and specs, how should I go about deciding which brand to ultimately pick?
z790 are like top of line mb.. only if u are looking for overclocking.. in my view
yes Thermalright peerless assassin 120 is good
rtx 4070 u can look base on price and looks u like. the 2 fans and 3 fans are based how much noise and cooling u like

all my own views

id still go with the non k since the ~$30 premium is wasted on a feature (cpu oc) that ur not going to use anyway.
So if I decide with 13700 I should pair with a Gigabyte B760M and if 13700k to pair with a Gigabyte Z790M?
yea. again, there is a significant saving should u go for the locked parts (non k, b760). u can also opt for the f variants as u noted in ur original post.

for gaming, yeah.
Next left with GPU... RTX 4070 I saw a few quite similarly priced and specs, how should I go about deciding which brand to ultimately pick?
imo, if u dont have an aesthetic in mind, just get whatever is cheapest.

try reseat the ram and reset bios.
When dealing, what should I check or test on ah?
if possible, ask seller to test boot to windows. after bringing home, stress cpu and gpu to ensure clocks and temperatures are ok. if u want, u can also oc the gpu to see how much headroom there is, is a crude way of seeing how much life it has left (especially if it is an ex mining card).

@NightRaven49 saw that MSI got new psus, mag a750gl with native atx3.0/pcie5 port, do you think they are worth considering now and a better buy, over the mpg a750gf and rog strix 750w, as all of them cost roughly the same at the 145-150 price range

for me unless u are planning to use that 3.0 or pcie5 in the very near future,
i feel that by that time ur psu would be worn out then u need to change out.
or if u are using for that 4080-4090

For me on my new build, i purposely went to find a PSU that is pcie 5 and 3.0

reason being, my GPU, is a 4070 TI. on older PSU, the connector to the GPU will have to use an adapter to connect to older PSUs.

3.0 PSUs have the new standard cable. the 12VPHWR cable that just simply is one cable from PSU to the gpu. much cleaner looking aesthetic instead of having that adapter where it can split into 2 or 3 to plug int that older PSU cables ( sorry not sure the exact naming convention)

So i search long and wide to find a 850Watt PSU that has this new 12VPHWR port on the psu and cable as only above 1000W PSU have. And finally found one.

Bought during 6.6 sale at $160

its the FSP Hydro G PRO Gold 850 watt

Its only $160, and has 10 years warranty, so why wanna settle for older PSU right? makes no logical sense as the warranty is 10 years. not 2 years..but 10 years. So u can reuse it for future when most GPU gonna be using that 12VPHWR port already. in fact i think all 4000 series using this connector already, but they always provide the adapter to connect to older PSUs ( which is really ugly and messy looking)

Just get a ATX 3.0 PCIE 5 PSU. less than $200 only.. i paid $160.

EDIT: back then i dont seem to find the MSI a750gl in sale in lazada or shopee, only one i can find is the FSP Hydro G Pro 850 watt that is PCIE 5.0.

Yes my case can use air cooler, I see that you reco Thermalright peerless assassin 120. Is this sufficient for me?
quoting again so u hopefully see this since i forgot to mention, do remember to check case clearance. the pa120 is 157mm tall as noted in the recommendations, which is taller than some cases can accommodate. if ur case only supports 155mm, then get the se variant.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they're still very new at the moment with basically no reviews, so no real way to know the quality for sure. it is very cheap for an atx3 psu, and given the 7y warranty, it might be an ok unit if u really need 12vhpwr (not A tier like the rog strix or a-gf but b tier or possibly lower, remains to be seen). if u dont, just stick to those A tier units, since they are proven to be high quality and u get 3y more warranty for about the same price.
in fact i think all 4000 series using this connector already
only 4070ti and up use the 12vhpwr exclusively, vast majority of 4070 and below cards use conventional 8p pcie.
