Anybody here using cable extension with asus rog strix 850w psu? I did mine n having issues with it. Im using the one sold by act8579.sg at shoppee. Wen i set it up, all fans are running but mobo n gpu no rgb n also no display. Switch back to psu cables, everything works fine.
the reviews online had said that the difference between the seasonic and the asus psu is that the asus psu has shorter cables..

Ya dat i know. Using the cables to extend n look nicer. But somehow the extension makes the mobo and gpu not running(no rgb on both n gpu fan not running)

i dont game, just use it for office work, torrent, watching netflix/ movies. However current system seems to lag, as i have multiple tabs on chrome. Excel lags as it have tables and complex data.

Main thing is to have a smooth experience in using excel.

Below is my current setup,
AMD Ryzen 3 mobile 3200G
Microstar A320M-A Pro Max
DDR 4 16gb memory 1200Mhz
Onboard graphics.
if u are willing to diy, cheapest and most cost effective option is to upgrade ur cpu to the 5600g. u have to first update ur mobo bios to latest version, then buy the cpu and swap out the 3200g. this should provide a massive uplift in performance for less than $200: u go from zen+ architecture to zen3 which has much higher ipc and clocks, along with getting 50% more cores and 3x as many threads vs ur 3200g.
Am actually looking at the aftershock 5600 + 6700xt bundle. at 9xx.
is this a good choice for my usage? Or i should go for a better cpu instead.
i would say that is their best value offering right now, quite unbeatable even if u diy though u will have to contend with the dubious mobo and psu. the 5600 is another step up from the 5600g, though u probably wont notice the difference, especially since u are not gaming (which also means the 6700xt would be wasted). imo the 5600g upgrade i mentioned above is enough and would provide basically the same experience as with the aftershock system for a lot less money; i wouldnt spend that $800 extra vs a $200 cpu upgrade if i were getting similar performance either way.
lastly, if i want to add on storage drive to aftershock PC, can i just buy a hdd from sls and install it myself?
yeah why not, just make sure to check that there are sata power connectors from the psu, sata data cable and hdd mounting hardware/positions still available. good idea to remove it if u need to send it back for warranty though.
Is dynacore the cheapest place to diy PC ?
not necessarily, though they do have cheap parts more often than not. u can also opt for their prebuilt sister company invaderpc, which does have decent builds. but as u can see in the first post, to get the absolute cheapest u will need to shop around a few shops.
Sadly also can't find any place selling Rx 6700 XT.
ya navi 21 and 22 cards have never been very available in sls, but can try luck on carou.
wow 3200g on 34" thats a hard push...
34" but 1080p, should be no issue for 3200g.
never really seen them having great prices before. heard their customer service is top notch though, probably justifies their higher prices.
Cpu: Intel I9-13900KS
bruh
Let me know your opinions.
not too sure why u would have rog parts almost everywhere except the mobo.
What ddr5 Ram should i get? Was thinking about G.skill trident z ddr5 96GB kit 6800MHZ cl34.
u probably dont need ram that fast for ur use case, just pick whichever fits ur aesthetic taste since u clearly have no budget limitation. where are u finding these 24gb sticks? havent quite seen them around.

have u tried one extension at a time? perhaps it could be the extension for the mobo that is faulty leading to failure to post but the rest ok.

Yeah bro. I know i know.

Mostly for the 10gbe and thunderbolt connectivity to my NAS. And i find those ROG boards are kinda not my taste and more towards gaming. As i"ve said before i'm not into gaming.

The ROG cooler and PSU i bought just cos i liked the display capabilities to show wattage and system temps at a glance and monitor without having to have another program running in the background to monitor.

why would you say that? Is it cos of stability issues or fast ram isn't useful for productivity use cases like mine?

Check this out on @Newegg:G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 96GB (2 x 48GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6800 (PC5 54400) Desktop Memory Model F5-6800J3446F48GX2-TZ5RK https://www.newegg.com/global/sg-en...m_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-20-374-465-_-08042023

I don't think it's mobo cable since my pc able to on with cpu n case fan running. Just dat there's no rgb on mobo n gpu not working thus the no display. Isn't cable extension universal? Plug n play type
just try first. i assume that u r using at least 3 cables (mobo, eps, pcie) so any one of them could be faulty, and will be difficult to tell if u dont try one at a time.

the latter. i also highly doubt the ludicrously expensive 13900ks will be worth the negligibly higher clocks and potentially higher power consumption over the regular 13900k for the same reason.

ok. But i plan to undervolt the 13900ks to reduce temps and run at higher clock speeds and lower voltage compared to the 13900k.

Thanks alot for the detailed reply I shall upgrade my CPU then.
I just realised i have a working HD 7750 gfx card. should i use it with my system, or the onboard gfx of 5600g is good enough?

Could I check how bad are the 'dubious mobo and psu'? I'm currently running dual 1080p monitors on an 8-year old rig but may want to play AAA games next time. Hence also considering this option from Aftershock cos of the 6700xt + ownself add in SSD. Does the mobo restrict future upgrading of CPU and GPU?

the MB provided only has one M2 slot iirc, If add sata or hdd is okay. CPU you are already very close at the end of the line with ryzen 5600. Nothing much to upgrade.

the 5600g igpu actually performs better than the hd7750 and still has active driver support. if ur adding monitors and run out of display connectors then it is a worthy addition, but i wouldnt add it if u have enough.

for starters, the mobo's 5 phase vrm with discrete mosfets is heatsinkless. i wouldnt dare to put anything more powerful than a 5700x on it, and that is a pointless upgrade over the 5600 for gaming. u might be able to squeeze in a 5800x3d for older games that dont tax the cpu as much, but for more modern games (or productivity apps) where more cores are being put to use, there might be a situation where the vrm overheats and u suffer performance loss as the cpu has to throttle, or in some instances the whole system may even crash outright. so cpu upgrades are out of the question for this board. it also only has 1 m2 slot that is already populated from aftershock, so u can only add sata drives. the a520 chipset limits effective upgrades of the nvme to pcie gen3 ones only even though the 5600 is capable of gen4, and if u are upgrading to a gpu with 8 pcie lanes or less there may be a performance loss too (not likely in the near future given that such cards other than the 4060ti are slower than the 6700xt but may become an issue as entry level cards become faster over generations). the psu is not great (its a cheap unit that does only the basics) but should be safe enough for use in sg. still, for that power capacity there are better quality options out there - see value gaming pc reco.

Hello, currently my PC which was bought from Aftershock in 2018 is facing constant nvlddmkm.sys BSOD crashes when running games (AOE2DE)
Tried many methods online but it seems that the hardware itself is failing after 5 years.

Hope someone can help to suggest what to upgrade on top of the graphics card.
I game, do light photoshop/lightroom, browse internet, torrent, netflix, watch videos etc on my PC

Current build:
Intel i5-8400
ASROCK B360 PRO4
Hypergate GTX 1070ti 8GB
32GB DDR 4 2666Mhz (16GB x 2)
250GB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 SSD

budget around 1.5k to 2k for the upgrade

if u can find the cpu only for a reduced price, that is the better choice as u can reuse the cooler that ur running on ur 3200g. i strongly recommend getting them used as there is virtually no risk involved while being (generally) much cheaper without having to wait for sales, as well with helping a fellow pc user clear parts.

Thank you! Never tried changing from intel to amd before. Any tips and tricks especially if I want to continue using the SSDs/HDDs that I am currently using

no please dont put it in unless u really need it... and as per my first msg 5600g is much better then 3200 in my view... it should be easy to find a deal just for the cpu... u can even look at carousell

there shouldnt be any special steps involved, both amd and intel should be roughly the same setup. as for ssd, just transfer the drive over and use normally, though it is recommended to reinstall windows and everything on the drive for the best experience.

the $1238 one? I'd opt for the 3060ti version for $200 less, the 4060ti is barely any faster than the 3060ti, not enough to justify that premium. even 3070 builds are cheaper and faster. id also go for the 5600x over the 12400 as in games they perform similarly but the former is cheaper.
Is the motherboard/PSU OK for this setup?
motherboard is not great but ok for a 12400, just that viable future cpu upgrades will be non existent. psu is also very basic, suggest u upgrade to a better quality unit. not too sure what value picks they have at the 650w tier, can contact them and ask.

Hi, would like to seek some advice here.
I bought a rig from Aftershock recently. Kept experiencing static shop when power on or when touch the back of the desktop.

What causes it and any solution? I tried to seek Aftershock's advice but they were not very responsive.
