yep. feels a little strange to have the secondary ssd be the same model and smaller than the primary one, most ppl have a smaller faster one for the os and a bigger slower but also cheaper drive as secondary, but nothing really wrong or incompatible.

for basic gaming like those easy to run games, u dont need a 7800xt, even a rx7600 for half the price can do 1440p60 high on d4. for a low power system and matx board, u can consider the tecware fusion for case since it is very compact and will not take up much space on a desk; the lancool 216 is very bulky and having built with one before i wouldnt put it on anything other than the floor or a very large and sturdy table. u will have to opt for the se version of the pa120 to make it fit in the fusion though. if i were u, id get the fusion in white (as the sama quzao 先马趣造) and white pa120se from taobao, around $100 for both with free shipping as opposed to >$70 each locally.

menticidal wants white theme, the a620m pro rs fits that but the b650m pg riptide doesnt as an almost full black mobo. but yes the rm850e is good to keep.
Thank for all your comments and I have made the changes accordingly. 1 thing to clarify about the casing is that I am looking more dust protection and not space concern. I have a huge sturdy wooden table for the desktop but it is place on my right beside the walls. So it gets dusty pretty fast as I leave the window open whenever I am home.

Im using a b760m aorus elite ax without the 2nd ssd cover n nitro+ 7900 xtx horizontal mount. For 2nd slot ssd, should i buy those that comes with low rise heatsink(like sn850/x) or buy from 3rd party for the height clearance? N any 2tb mid-high tier recommendations(or buy another sn850x)?

hello pros, i've always been a laptop user... but would like to try out gaming CPU... budget wise 1.5k include win10/11.

Preference : intel 13th gen and 32gb RAM (to run multi NOX)
My current monitor is just a 1080p but might get 1440p in near future.

Generally is the below build from invader good to go ? I self pick from pricelist seems to be much more expensive.

INTEL I5-13400F 2.50GHz 20MB CACHE 10C/16THREAD
ASUS TUF GAMING B760M-PLUS WIFI DDR5
COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 SPECTRUM V3 ARGB\
KINGSTON FURY BEAST RGB 5600MHz 16GB(8GBx2) CL40 KIT
ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX™ 4060 Ti O8G TWIN FAN GDDR6
WD BLACK SN770 1TB GEN4 NVME M.2 SSD
SILVERSTONE ET650-650W V1.4 80+ BRONZE
NEOTEZ DEUS CASING
4 X 120MM ARGB FANS
HIGH SPEED AX WIRELESS AND BT | WIFI 6 + BT 5.2
WIN 11 UN-ACTIVATED
OPERATING SYSTEM:
WINDOWS 11 HOME OEM x 1
Ram Upgrade 3:
KINSGTON FURY BEAST RGB DDR5 6000MHz 32GB(16GBx2) CL40 KIT x 1
13400 and 4060ti are bad deals locally, i would go with the midrange gaming pc reco in the first post, then upgrade the ram to 32gb. or since u have the budget to 1.5k, replace the am4 base of that reco with am5, which offers not only better performance and ddr5 support today but also the potential for a drop in upgrade with a much faster cpu in the future thanks to the platform longevity, neither of which am4 or lga1700 have. while the 13400 does have more cores and threads to work with, they are fairly weak e cores and there are only 4 of them, which imo does not justify the price hike. so it would look something like this:
ryzen 5 7500f + msi pro b650m-a wifi475pckaki
thermalright phantom spirit 120 se51pc themes
gskill flare x5 2x 16gb 5600c36 ddr5142dynacore
lexar nm790 1tb76tradepac
gigabyte rtx 3060 ti eagle gddr6x428techdeals
super flower legion gx pro 750w102pckaki
with a $150 budget for case (recos in first post), this totals 1426. sure the 3060ti is a little slower than the 4060ti but only up to 10% in the majority of aaa titles at 1080p (and closes the gap at 1440p), and in return u get a much faster (in gaming) and more consistent cpu (no e cores to worry about in ur nox instances), better quality psu and a wider variety of cases (which u can choose to skimp on and save money - if u opt for the same neotez case as invaderpc, final build will cost about the same as ur build from invaderpc with the ram upgrade).
another question : is it worth to wait for 11.11 sales ? haha
probably, invaderpc does do sales during the usual sale events too.
any mobo to recommend? (Ideally atx mobos)
if u dont need tons of nvmes or expansion slots, any b650 other than bottom of the barrel ones like the asus prime series, asrock b650m pg lightning or gigabyte k should do fine.
Peerless Assassin 120 se
id go for the newer phantom spirit 120 se, performs slightly better and is cheaper than the pa120se at pc themes.
7800xt (Hellhounds are all gone in SLS!) Sapphire Nitro / Pure or Red Devil or XFX Merc / Quik
yeah, apparently after initial launch there have been no restocks of hellhound in sls, though i do see aftershock selling it on lazada and shopee. if u can use dbs credit card, can collect the lazada voucher for $55 off $550 and use on the aftershock hellhound, or wait and see what 11/11 vouchers are like. otherwise, the gigabyte gaming oc from bizgram is a decent deal too at 784 for its 3y warranty over the sapphire and xfx models which are only 2y.
Superflower Leadex iii 850w gold
i would go for something like the adata xpg core reactor 850w for $145 from performance pc for its 10y warranty over superflower 5y. u probably dont need 850w though, even 650w is plenty.

u can refer to this recommendation i made and swap out the xtx for the 7800xt and the 980pro for ur desired storage.
For 2nd slot ssd, should i buy those that comes with low rise heatsink(like sn850/x) or buy from 3rd party for the height clearance?
u may have to get a 3rd party low profile one. 1st party heatsinks, especially for gen4 and later nvmes, tend to be quite bulky and u are justified in worrying about clearance. but since it is ultimately a secondary drive, i wouldnt be too worried running it without a heatsink or with a cheap extruded alumnium heatsink since u probably wont be hitting it as hard as the main os drive.
N any 2tb mid-high tier recommendations(or buy another sn850x)?
u could consider something like the crucial p3/5 plus. the samsung 980pro also tends to be quite close in price at dynacore.

What do you guys think?

Just shows how competitive the 7800xt Hellhound card is.

Brilliant cooling at slightly higher price than ref.

You can even get it cheaper than ref model from aftershock lol
7800xt ref model in SG bo hua, unless you really need the small footprint

For atx, can look at Asrock B650E PG Riptide, around low 300s on sales date, hopefully still got stocks for you to buy
For psu, needa take note that its only 5yr wty. MSI A750/850GF, XPG Core Reactor, Seasonic Focus GX(non atx ver.) are some alternatives you can take a look at, they have 10y wty
You can buy 7800xt hellhound from Aftershock on shopee/lazada
For your budget, I believe you can do better than Lexar nvme. Can have a look at WD SN850X/Samsung 980Pro, 990Pro/SK Hynix P41/Crucial P5

Gigabyte I thought is 4yrs wty? But have to register online for the extra 1yr

I got mine from aftershock, it cost me abt 700 after card cashback on shopee with 80 off 800

Gigabyte only selected models have 4 years, those aorus higher priced models. Reference and maybe reference OC are on 3 years only.

I wanted the Riptide but it's out of stock completely in SLS/online stores in Singapore.
Well i don't own a DBS/POSB Creditcard unforunately - can't get the full discount via Aftershock.
7800XT + 7800X3D + Fractal North is a expensive combo, that's why i'm opting for cheaper storages.

You win in the cooling but performance wise you're getting at best 2-4% increase so i guess i take what's available.

Thanks for the phantom spirit 120 se recommendation, i switched my build to that after reading up online.
I ended up with the b650 aorus elite ax instead.
Understand that most people want longer warranty for their PSU but I went for superflower because they are an OEM company and wanting to give them a shot.

What's resolution you playing? I don't think you really need 7800x3d.

So you can save money there.

Unless you playing 1080P on esports game

You dont need any card, Shopee have daily vouchers of $50 off 800, on sales date it will be 70 off 800
You will be getting the hellhound at mid 700s which is already a great deal

alternatively, you can look up on carousell, some SI may still have stock and they are selling cheaper than SLS

depends on the model. they cover most nvidia cards, but amd side only the 7900xtx for current gen.

im also not sure if cdl trading will honor the extra year.

overall, its more like the 6650xt/3060ti, though those are kind of entry level to lower midrange, and since they are last gen those prices are likely while stocks last. if ur looking at >100fps/cards with more than 8gb of vram, then yes it would be the 7800xt and then followed by the 4070 as mindgamey mentioned. think im going to update the recos based on this...

Thanks for your advice !

Will pair 7500F with 4070 instead. Hope this will last for 5 years =S

ps : Checked out PCkaki on Shopee, they have promo R5 7500F + Mobo + 32GB Ram for only 499...
I just checked the product listing, its only for 7600X bundle, 7500F does not come with free ram

that corbell 7600X/MSI B650m/Gskill bundle has been running for few months already, few shops selling these kind of bundles at mid 600s

also, I dont think corbell bring in 7500f, much less cover the wty for a tray set of 7500f, so their product listing is very misleading in claiming theres corbell wty

Reading the last col, it looks like the 4080 is better value than the 4090?

If I understand what the reviews are saying, the 4090 should be better value?

Perhaps the SG and US prices are not comparable, thus resulting in the reverse?

Thanks to all the tips and recommendation here from the champions here, I have learnt a lot and managed to clobber up this selection from retail and carousell

7800x3d
Phantom Spirit
MSI mortar b650m
Adata lancer 32gb cl6000/30
4070TI
Superflower Leadex 850
Monarch Air Max 903
Lexar NM 790 2TB

$2239

Any way to optimize further? Eg. Case should get a matx, should get 7500f / 7600 etc. GPU has already been bought so cannot change liao.

Cheers

nah their shopee deal only has the cpu + mb at that price, and is actually more expensive than what is listed on carou (and was recommended). the combo with the ram costed closer to $700, comes with a 7600x instead of the 7500f and is sold out.
also, I dont think corbell bring in 7500f, much less cover the wty for a tray set of 7500f, so their product listing is very misleading in claiming theres corbell wty
i wouldnt be worried about cpu warranty, though it is a bummer that it does not come with the box cooler bcos if ur going for the absolute cheapest am5 cpu u probably dont want to spend extra on a cooler too.
Reading the last col, it looks like the 4080 is better value than the 4090?
correct, but its not a very high bar to meet considering the 4090 is the worst gpu price to perf wise. in fact, the 4080 is the 2nd worst gpu. if u want 4080 performance, the 7900xtx offers 10% more frames per dollar, and thats before considering that it has 50% more vram and marginally faster raster performance.
If I understand what the reviews are saying, the 4090 should be better value?

Perhaps the SG and US prices are not comparable, thus resulting in the reverse?
not necessarily. cost per frame wise it is still at the bottom, but rather i suppose what reviewers mean by the 4090s value being that it is the outright fastest card u can buy today, and many people want that kind of no compromise solution (thus being valuable). another view ive heard is that when ur already splashing 1200usd on a card, another 400usd for the 4090 probably isnt a big deal for u so u might as well go for the 4090.
Any way to optimize further? Eg. Case should get a matx, should get 7500f / 7600 etc.
case wise is subjective, so really depends on u. 7500f/7600 are also a step down in performance vs the 7800x3d, so i would only go there if u have exceeded ur budget. the only comment i have is maybe opt for a psu with more than 5y warranty. im not sure if that leadex model is atx3 compliant, but for about the same money u can just get an adata core reactor with double the warranty and just deal with the adapter. the 4070ti also doesnt need that much power, so a 750w model will suffice and i would suggest looking at something like the msi a750gl too.
