The firmware version 1.06 is available from here (US?) dated 29/12/2008.

Going to try it now.

So how did the upgrade went?

I still cannot delete my completed bt files even after i update it.. Does that means I need to reformat the hdd to let the new fw take effect?

Getting DNS-323 to play with WDTV

Ok, my fault for no checking before buying, but I bought a DNS-323 with the print server USB port, and a WD TV USB Media player device, hoping to plug the WDTV into the DNS-323, but this obviously doesn't work as the USB port on the DNS-323 doesn't have a USB out.

I've read about fun plug and how it can be used to open up the USB port to mount a USB HDD, but what I want is to use the DNS-323 as a USB enclosure. I'm not too tech savvy so would rather buy a proper network media player than to risk damaging the DNS-323.

Anyone who has made a new year resolution to be helpful can start here!!

Thanks!

I doubt you can use the DNS-323 as a USB enclosure. DNS-313 can do that though.

If you have a proper network media player, you should be able to access the DNS-323's shares over network to access your media files. Most newer media players can directly access samba shares and play video without the need to have a media server/streamer (e.g. twonky).

I think quite a few. Few days ago I heard coldboy has attached his USB printer to the DNS-323.

I need to install a HP laserjet for one user (also happen to use 323 :s27:). Do I share the printer from 323 or install the drivers in Windows? Any guides for this?

Yup. Manage to do it. When printing, just select through network printer.
Disconnected it in the end since I have a 3-in-1 printer-scanner, and the scanner part didn't work when connected to the DNS-323.

HELP!!!!

Hi everyone

I was running RAID-1 on the DNS-323 prior to removing one of the hard drives(right bay) inside to test out a connector issue on my PC. However, when I restarted the DNS-323 it prompted me to reformat the "2nd hard drive"(right bay?) , and so I did. It lighted up with an amber light on the re-inserted hdd(right bay). I couldn't get the NAS to shutdown via the button so I restarted it by switching off the power. After that I reformatted the re-inserted harddisk("right bay") and right now its still syncing.

Now I lost the data which I just stored over the past week, and the state of the data on the disk is back to 6 months ago. Is it still possible to retrieve the latest data I've stored back?

Now right its still resyncing, but to the state of 6 months ago?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Failed to Map Drive - I'm going to cry

HELP !!!

I went out and got the DNS-323 along with a 750 G seagate drive. Went home, plugged it into my router and everything seemed good and dandy. I could access the utility through my browser, and I even updated the firmware and formatted the drive. This is where the good and dandy part ends.

I couldn't map the drive. That was about 8 hours ago. And I still can't map the drive. I'm running an XP SP3 machine. I enabled the UPnP in Windows, turned off the Windows firewall, turned off the router's firewall, enabled the UPnP in the router's settings, and still nothing. All the workgroup name in the router settings, Windows, and the NAS (DNS-323) are identical. I tried using DHCP, and then even tried using static IP. I was on the phone with the DLINK guys for over 2 hours. They were little help.

I can ping the NAS using command prompt, and that tells me that it's really close by ( <1 ms response). I even tried to manually map the drive by right clicking My Computer and entering in (\\192.xxx.x.xxx\Volume_1) but it doesn't work. When I go to browse, I can't see the NAS, yet I can access its utility via browser at any time, without any hiccups.

I am literally ready to kill myself. Please, if anyone can help, that would be tremendous.
