1. Minimal, can hold a proper conversation.

2. Personally prefer wired.

The 1st gen wired has higher resolution, cheaper, less features if you do not get subscription.

The 2nd gen wired has lower
resolution but more features if you do not get the subscription.

Since I subscribe to their Nest Aware, functionalities are same for both, I still will stick to 1st gen wired.

3. Installed on wall next to door.

4. Amazon ( USA ) ship to Sg.
1st gen wired. ( in USD )

2nd gen wired. ( in USD )

I dun have recommended installers, the one that did for me during house reno went back msia..

5. no Microsd.

* Nest Aware subscription supports an 'unlimited' number of devices. I have 5 nest cams alongside my nest hello doorbell, so it makes sense to have the subscription *

pro & con between wire / wireless? other than battery charging requirement

How does the wiring work ? Will there be a need to drill holes in your house or have any wires dangling ?

able to subscribe to google nest aware in Sg or need to use vpn ?

Drilled thru wall to pass the wires from power source.

Used to subscribe to Nest aware usa later switched to Nest aware australia, to Perth ( same timezone as Sg ).

I think only google assistants and perhaps 3rd party google assistants ( e.g Lenovo ). Mine chimes all my Google assistants as long as they are placed under the same "home"

bruteforce or pin removal will trigger loud siren on the doorbell physically (can only turn off in app), sending alert and video capture to hub & app
i believe works same for most battery operated doorbell

bought a google nest doorbell(battery) a couple of weeks ago and paid someone to come install for me.

so far the experience is great, just that most of the time, if I receive a notification someone is at my door or has rang my doorbell, when I open the google home to view the camera, it either takes more than 6 seconds to load or doesn't load at all. I need to force close google home and then open again. but by the time I do that, the person has left.

I am using Google nest doorbell with the Google nest hub display, it does the announcement with live feed.

I don't bother to reply, just head straight to open door.
I only did one canned message response to ask the dispatcher to place the parcel at door step and leave.

for your doorbell slow response issue, did you check your wires signal strength, that could be the reason.
I did occasionally get slow response, issue happened after using a new router that doesn't beam enough signal to my door bell location.

when I received notification from phone, it already bundled a gif picture showing event.
I usually just peek on that than going to Google home to check the video clips.

my doorbell usage does more surveillance capturing than true door bell announcement.

nowadays courier delivery staff don't bother to press doorbell, I have to literally specifying it as delivery instructions.

TP-Link Tapo is very cheap now on Lazada from Challenger. I just bought one at $67.50 with $7.70 cashback.

Hi all, bought a nest wired gen2 and a power brick(18V 500mA) anyone know how which chime can be added in?

Also any installer to recommend? The seller's installer charging 250 for the installation alone.

Google nest doorbell is it better to wired or battery?

depends on your preference.
battery version just needs simple setup to secure the door bell, one may not need to drill.
=> battery charging once every 2.5 months.
=> some house setup, this is an Handy option. I opt for this.
=> charging is not difficult, a simple unlock mechanism is used to bring the door bell out from the mounting bracket.

wired version needs to have wires feed to the door bell and setup transformers to supply AC supply to the door bell.
=> after initial setup, no need to care on power supply.

=> drilling, preparing own transformer may not be a simple job to most. may need to pay $60-80 for the installation work excluding the transformer cost.

So for the chime, I need to buy the speaker or display right?
or using wired i can connect to the existing chime?

the wired version can link to chime.
for the battery version, the package does come with contact points to external chime, to me this is defeating the purpose .
I have Google nest hub display but most of the time, the phone notification is more than enough as nowadays hardly people pressing door bell. the video notification come to phone/Google home app when someone approaching the door bell.
