depends on your preference.
battery version just needs simple setup to secure the door bell, one may not need to drill.
=> battery charging once every 2.5 months.
=> some house setup, this is an Handy option. I opt for this.
=> charging is not difficult, a simple unlock mechanism is used to bring the door bell out from the mounting bracket.

wired version needs to have wires feed to the door bell and setup transformers to supply AC supply to the door bell.
=> after initial setup, no need to care on power supply.

=> drilling, preparing own transformer may not be a simple job to most. may need to pay $60-80 for the installation work excluding the transformer cost.
how did u mount the google doorbell battery without drilling?
tape? any recommendations?

yes just 3M tap on the mounting bracket.
I did make mistake placing too close too the door peep hole, then try to dislodge it but it is super strong to pull it away.

then I am convinced, don't bother to screw in the mounting bracket.

I am in private, less concern on sneaky figures to steal it.

That doorbell is not heavy, 600g ? I stick it to my door, the mounting bracket like 0.8" x 4" size, plenty of holding area. Won't have issue to hold a weight of 600g with 2 x 4" strip 3M Tape

I am using wired version. My doorbell is still able to record video when WiFi is down since it has a build in storage of 4gb. The WiFi function allowed users to receive "instant notifications " and video.

Using the Tapo S230S1 since 17th Dec 2023.

Due to our usage pattern, battery life is now at 43%.

Motion recording on and checking of recordings and liveview occasionally.

Have a spare battery on standby and fully charged to change the battery from the unit when the one in used is low in battery level.

Image quality of the camera is good and so are the recordings to microSD.

Notification is received quite fast (within 2 seconds on 4G data) when the bell is pressed.

Overall, happy with this model and it's function.

Only wished that the view is 3x4 (and wider vertically) instead of 4x3 so that can see the whole person (especially deliveries person when they place the parcel on the floor infront of the gate).

Edit : Just saw this (not available locally).

using battery or wired? wondering how to connect, cause the existing hdb doorbell wire dont have electricity
Just make use of the wire.

My eufy wired doorbell make use of the "hdb doorbell wire " I use a step-down adapter from my electricty socket and tap it on the wire end, which is exposed on the kitchen wall opening.

It is battery powered right? And only cost $80
Ard there. The battery one day 1 percent reduce. So every 3 mths maybe need to charge for few hours. But easy to install and easy to take out and charge

What I like also is that it is quick enough to capture motion for ppl who is walking pass corridor.
