Dreamcore vs Aftershock Desktop Computers

Choosing parts based on brand? Seriously?

As if it is possible to tell the difference between an ASUS board, an ASrock board, a Gigabyte board or an MSI board? Or first-party OEM Samsung RAM vs aftermaket RAM vendors using a mix of chips from Micron or Hynix?

If I were to mask the entire POST sequence with a generic 'Initializing Hardware' message, I bet close to 100% of the so-called enthusiasts won't even know what board or RAM they have until Windows has booted and they launch CPU-Z.

And nowadays with OEM machines getting cheaper, I don't see any appeal to DIY. In fact, the only reason I DIY is to gain access to advanced features in UEFI which are typically hidden in OEM boards.

I bought Aftershock PC about two years back. I buy their extended warranty but when my Gaming Notebook has keyboard issue and require replacement they told me no stock and need to wait for a month or two. I waited a month now but when I check status of my keyboard replacement I get no reply from them.

So I don't have a lot of confidence with them which is a shame. No idea about dream core after sale warranty though.

But regardless, I think I will just go with the main stream brands in the future.

1) Just saw their site. They suspect they don't cover system warranty. Just parts warranty. They are not very clear about warranty. I'm thinking they will help you RMA the parts if any issue, but won't have 1-to-1 if I'm not wrong. You gotta call them to clarify.

2) GTX 1070 at the very least.

3) Any AC1300 Dual Band WiFi Adapter. Cheaper one like TP Link Archer T6E is about $50 range only.

1070 is higher grade than 1060 which would serve well for AAA games in 1080p in ultra settings. Esp on pubg which is not optimised well and can bottleneck your gpu if its low end.

First part I know la bro HAHA. I see. If I'm going for 1070 should I just go for 1080? Anyway read a few threads say after next gen out price will drop slightly? How much can I expect to drop if I wait.

1080 i feel is neither here nor there with the release of 1070ti and 1080ti.

1080ti is around 20-30% better than 1080 but it isnt that far apart from 1080.

1070ti performance is close to 1080 but much cheaper.

If u can stretch ur budget, get 1070ti, if not go all out with 1080ti.

It all depends on your budget. If die die cant go over a certain value, then just have to find the best brand/model to fit within.

Reason at least gtx 1070 is that you're playing pubg (not optimized, hardware intensive), and your monitor is z34p.

i thought next gen is again going to be just a refresh? anyways if current crop of gpu supports what games u want to play and has the capabilities to push ur monitors then why not get the current crop of gpu now? personally saw some reasonable priced 1080s fron galax and msi. just avoid getting asus if u dun want to pay for the asus rog tax. clocks are all quite similar after u oc and just that few fps more.

i think aftershock and dreamcore pc lack variety/clarification. ie. they do not tell you what brand parts they use. if you have no preference on brand, then i suppose they are ok.
the only downside i didnt like is longgggg waiting time.
i ask aftershock, and they quote me like minimum 4 weeks.
means i need to pay 2k+ yet wait 4-6weeks for my pc. so sian.

i went to another PC builder, got it within 2-3 days. paid 50% deposit and the rest is cash on delivery. very helpful guy too. so what im trying to say is, aftershock and dreamcore are not the only 2 companies doing this. there are others who are worth a shot as well.
google is your best friend.

Around 5days, if they got stocks. If you request for funny parts, have to give them sometimes to stock-up, not more then 2wks max. You can configure first and finalize with them before pay $$$.

One thing, personal experience Dreamcore is more friendly and flexible to customise among the two. Box are very competitively priced, good for busy person or small company buy. Prefer to deal with them... anytimes win hands down!

Understand that Aftershock has good pricing but their delivery for custom builds will take weeks.

What specs are you looking at? For me if its a mid to high end build I would DIY. If your unable to do this on your own maybe work with some friends on a small project (while maintaining social distancing of course!).

Dreamcore service is good and price is cheaper then DIY.
Main thing its covered with 3yrs warranty, peace of mind...for personal or small company use...
