Yes, but with DVB-T2 standards to be implemented soon, is there a use for such recorders?

Most of DVB-T2 STB do not support AV input recording.
If some user want to record their oversea TV program from their HubStation or MioTv Box, may need a HDD recoder too.

How about the signal quality if you direct view your Hubstation Tv program from your TV via Composite input?

The recorded signal good or bad via composite input, it also depend to the recorder main processor. Usually, the record video quality will be same like a DVD quality.

We will recommend S-200C HD DVR for you.

Thanks for the recommendation - how much does it cost?

The quality is bad for direct composite connection too - guess I'm already too used to HD.

After scouring the internet, I'm leaning towards Avermedia C281 Game Capture HD or the newer C283S HD EzRecorder Plus - reviews on Amazon seem to indicate good video capture quality.

Where to buy HDD TV Recorders

I have a Samsung HDD Recorder but it shows signs that it's going to break down soon.
Thinking of buying a new one, but I went to many stores like Best denki, Courts, they don't have any.
Seems like nobody sells this anymore in Singapore.
I know some smart TV have TV recording function, Starhub hub station also have that function, but I don't own these.
I just need a device that can record free to air TV, just like back in the old VCR days.

Anyone know where still got sell HDD recorders, and any good recommendation?

Your best bet is the DVB-T2 Draco Settop box. Not only can receive the LATESt DVB-T2 format of all 7 mediacorp channels in digital and out of these 7, four are in HD and you can record using USB as well.
