No separate 2.4.and 5 ghz. Not using smart connect.

Seller was good enough to suggest guest network solution. I tried that and worked first time like a charm for both RM mini as well as all wall plugs!

Trying everything out now to see how stable things go.

I'm running broadlink switches, wall plugs and RM remotes, along with 5 Google mini speakers everywhere... Still need to see how stable and reliable.

LOL dude, good that you got it working.
Hope you realize it's because of your 2.4 and 5 not being separate.
Quite sure broadlink only connects to 2.4

As in my original system was already unique ssid 2.4 and 5... Still didn't work...

But vendor told me the wireless encryption might be causing issue, so set up a separate guest network with basic password. That seemed to have solved it!

But just last night there was a couple of times Google home couldn't connect to the smart Wall plug... Not sure what is the issue though... Maybe signal not strong enough?

Can I ask how do you get foreign devices if you have set a password for your SSID and done the necessary protection for your router? You mean to say they hack their way into your network?

by foreign devices, i meant the devices that i connected before and i forgotten what they are. and the product names identified by the router is confusing for example "Beijing Technologies PTE LTD", "XIAOMI" etc. its difficult to identify which is which with such names. so i reset everything and name them as per the device 1 by 1.

whether anot my wifi been hacked... i don't know but at least i know now i'm better secured

are u using the new Broadlink app or the old IHS?
there still seem to be stability and performance issues integrating with Google.

Both new and old app are trash lah. Sometimes I have to yell at my google home device twice to switch on my RF controlled fan. GH send to the cloud, but my RM4 Pro never send the signal. Pui. Right now I experimenting with Hubitat to get the RM4 Pro on local control which has been done by some people but it's quite complicated.

haha indeed. just UI change.
i gave up with GH also. now the GH is just a speaker for Spotify and occassion "OK Google" from mobile devices.

Probably moving to Apple Homekit this year. Cos would prefer device status rather then RM just a toggle switch.

Huh what's wrong with Google Home? It's been working great for me. How will switching to HomeKit give you device status?

Google Home itself with android devices is great.
but to integrate with RM is a hit or miss.

Homekit (cause switching to Apple) with either Z Wave or Zigbee hubs and devices.

Is there a decent z-wave or zigbee RF controller? I'm not aware of something like this, currently my own home all mostly on z-wave, but because I want to control this 1 single RF fan I using Broadlink. My ceiling fans all smart fans controlled by SmartLife so no worries via Wifi, just that one stupid dining fan I need the broadlink.

i'm looking at Xiaomi Aqara (zigbee) as it supports Google Assistant, Apple Homekit and Alexa.

1 of my stopping reasons not changing is because there isn't any 3 Gang light switches available. Mostly 2 Gangs. I also have 1 stupid dining room light switch which is 3 gang. so no choice at the moment but to stick with Broadlink.

Both are just IR blaster. Ambi climate has built in sensor but the AI needs some work. What issues are you having with it anyway.

App wise for Broadlink and WYFY, I have to say the WYFY is easier but integration of devices is limited. IE no Alexa Voice assistant.

Broadlink is ok, but I really hate the app interface. I don't use it often but it has alexa so I can control my AC via voice. If you are using GH then no issue...

I have been using Ambi Climate 2 for over a year.

1) The AI is either faulty, absolute garbage or a gimmick. Ambi is marketed as using AI and ML to intelligently maintain an optimal environment. It doesn’t do a anything. Often times (like almost always) the room gets too warm or too cold. In fact, Ambi app says so too but doesn’t regulated the temp. I have to set the a/c temp instead. Also there is not an option to set a preferred humidity level.

2) Once or twice (I can’t remember) their server had an issue causing a/c to churn out hot air. This happened in the middle of the night like 3am as I woke up sweating. After fiddling with the settings for 30mins, I reckon it’s pointless, sent a support ticket, switched off both Ambi and used the remote. Got an acknowledgement the next day.

3) For $199 a piece (I got the 2nd piece at $159), all it does is a/c temp and show some nice graphs.

In addition to your points, Broadlink has a wifi password limitation. While I can, I’m not keen to change pw or create a new wifi ssid. I have Lenovo Google Smart Display but nowadays mainly using Facebook Portal. Each has its pros and cons which makes it harder to decide.

i am trying to automate my home as much as possible with integration to Apple Homekit. so i'm looking for a system (or a hub) that has a variety of devices from light switches and lights, controllers/hub, blinds (not curtain), security sensors and doorbell.

currently i only have RM Pro with Broadlink S1 Alarm Kit, Broadlink Power Extension and light switches( compatible brand not Broadlink)

Seems like you know what you want. Yeah, what they advertised seems like just marketing talk. Even then, the ML or AI isn't suited for local use as usually it will require user input before the AI can understand your needs and whatever data they might have used isn't for local climate.

For me, I'm using my Homey to do the automation and sending the IR via the wyfy or rm mini I have in my home.

Based on my current automation, I've found that time based cooling still works best with temperature deviation instead of just temp and humidity. With the latter there is still some misses as we perceive temp differently when we sleep based on our heart rate and state of sleep.

I've set 3 presets,
"rapid cooling", "maintain 25c" and "lower to 23c"

1st is triggered at the start of my bedtime routine and when temp increase by 1.5 degrees within 10mins (door open or room activity increase)

2nd happens most often, but it runs max 1-1.5hrs as the humidity tend to increase with respiration and while temp is still around 25 (and AC isn't dehumidifying as much), the perceived temp feels warmer, hence the 3rd flow is trigger to cool the room for 30 mins or temp lowers 1.5c and ends.

This works the best for me and my baby and missus isnt complaining as we dont need to adjust the temp at all.

I was still able control my devices locally using broadlink new app but i could not use google voice to control my devices. This always happen when i restart my router and modem.
