I have been using Ambi Climate 2 for over a year.
1) The AI is either faulty, absolute garbage or a gimmick. Ambi is marketed as using AI and ML to intelligently maintain an optimal environment. It doesn’t do a anything. Often times (like almost always) the room gets too warm or too cold. In fact, Ambi app says so too but doesn’t regulated the temp. I have to set the a/c temp instead. Also there is not an option to set a preferred humidity level.
2) Once or twice (I can’t remember) their server had an issue causing a/c to churn out hot air. This happened in the middle of the night like 3am as I woke up sweating. After fiddling with the settings for 30mins, I reckon it’s pointless, sent a support ticket, switched off both Ambi and used the remote. Got an acknowledgement the next day.
3) For $199 a piece (I got the 2nd piece at $159), all it does is a/c temp and show some nice graphs.
In addition to your points, Broadlink has a wifi password limitation. While I can, I’m not keen to change pw or create a new wifi ssid. I have Lenovo Google Smart Display but nowadays mainly using Facebook Portal. Each has its pros and cons which makes it harder to decide.
Seems like you know what you want. Yeah, what they advertised seems like just marketing talk. Even then, the ML or AI isn't suited for local use as usually it will require user input before the AI can understand your needs and whatever data they might have used isn't for local climate.
For me, I'm using my Homey to do the automation and sending the IR via the wyfy or rm mini I have in my home.
Based on my current automation, I've found that time based cooling still works best with temperature deviation instead of just temp and humidity. With the latter there is still some misses as we perceive temp differently when we sleep based on our heart rate and state of sleep.
I've set 3 presets,
"rapid cooling", "maintain 25c" and "lower to 23c"
1st is triggered at the start of my bedtime routine and when temp increase by 1.5 degrees within 10mins (door open or room activity increase)
2nd happens most often, but it runs max 1-1.5hrs as the humidity tend to increase with respiration and while temp is still around 25 (and AC isn't dehumidifying as much), the perceived temp feels warmer, hence the 3rd flow is trigger to cool the room for 30 mins or temp lowers 1.5c and ends.
This works the best for me and my baby and missus isnt complaining as we dont need to adjust the temp at all.
