Hey guys,

I have seborrheic dermatitis. Most prominent would be the area beside my nose. I think 3-4weeks back, I went to the family physician, and he prescribed me some Gentrisone cream, and from what he said, it's a mild steroid cream. I don't actually feel very comfortable using too much of steroid cream, so whenever I apply, I always apply just enough to coat the area. He asked me to apply once every night after showering, and it should clear up in 3-4days. Truly, it really did. Just that after that, my area seems much more oily than usual, but no more dry skin or red patches.

But after about 1-2weeks, the area starts to become rosy red again, and feels super itchy and bumpy! I thought it might be an allergy to something, and I didn't apply gentrisone immediately. I waited for about 2 days but it didn't really clear up, and dry skin slowly started to form again. So I begin using gentrisone again for about 3-4days, and then it cleared up again.

Right now, about a week later, feels like the same thing is happening again. The area are itching constantly and I have to tap it to try to sooth it a little. Area is become slightly red and bumpy again.

Would just like to ask you guys. Is it okay for me to do this cycle of getrisone for 3-4days for every 1-2weeks? Would there be like long term side effects? And would this be recommended? Right now I am also constantly applying Cetaphil twice everyday after showering too.

By the way, only my face is affected by it. Apart from beside my nose, my forehead and eyebrow region and sideburns do get a little dry skin sometimes too. My scalp used to have it too, but it has since been controlled.

Thanks for the help guys :)

Any advice/recommendations for me? :s11:

can look for tcm recommended in this thread.

Is TCM trustworthy in repressing my condition? It's quite expensive too right..

Currently thinking of just leaving it alone. Not sure if I want to continue using Cetaphil because it seems like the moisturiser is actually feeding the yeast.

If using medicine don't work, migrating to cooler countries will help. I had a friend who had very bad eczema and doctors gave him the most powerful steroid cream, still will itch and have flakes everywhere. When u who Australia to study, his eczema gone

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, migrating is not an option for me (at least at the moment). Was thinking of trying the sea salt method. Do I have to do it every single day?

Not don't know about the rest of the herbs but I seems to observed that I tend to have some kind of flare ups if I had consumed a bit more of 生姜 or 党参 at a within a short period of time.

i don't really like topical cream.

most of the time its useless.

TCM isn't cheap. i agree. its not miracle medicine. it takes time.

I thinK Eczema is more of inside body issue.

hey guys!

just purchased some epsom salt. gonna try it on my facial seborrheic dermatitis.

question: how do i go about applying it on my face? what i've found online is like mixing water with 2 tablespoon of epsom salt, then wash for 5min, or something like that. i've also found one where this guy dabbed it with wet hand and just apply it on his face till it dissolves.

any advice? thanks!!

Not sure where can I put my post in. Recently I got some scalp problem.
At first is itchiness on the side of my head. Then turn redness size like a fist now and seem to be spreading. Flakes came off when I go scratch it.
Nv had this issue on other parts of my body.
Want to try some antifungal/antibacterial shampoo first.
Any bro/sis have recom for me? Or some food to be avoid? Tia

go see doctor..

九层塔 can ease eczema very effectively and with immediate effect. I've tried giving my nephew and it works. Will not itch for the day when he takes 九层塔, I'm not sure taking it long term will be totally cured or not as I've just tried not long ago.

九层塔 is a kind of vegetable which can be purchased from vegetables stalls at the wet market. Some stalls sell them, some don't. Cut into small pieces and fried with eggs, chicken or meat. Not too much as the smell is strong. Tell the stall owners the name of the vegetable if you cannot recognise it. It is cheap. 50 cents is enough for the day.
