I think and feel you should let go of the fact that he was 'recommded' by your parents. Trust that your parents want the best for you.

We have to be in Australia for the rest of our lives. My hubby's entire family is in Australia. A lot of his extended families are in Australia too.

He grew up in Australia too. And we both don't really like where we are now (not Singapore).

He won't be able to get PR (and then a job) in Singapore thru our marriage. We aren't worried about the job though as I've my own company in Singapore. Both of us like the pace in Australia. Singapore is good for building a career (for me) though.

I really find the way they orchestrated this to be very very heavy-handed.

"Recommended" would be putting it too lightly.

Actually it is exactly the fact that you guys intend to stay in Australia for good which makes it a good idea to hold a Singaporean passport and an Australian PR; holding the PR of the country you intend to stay in for good makes it easier to maintain the minimum residency period every 5 years.

Anyway, you don't need to stay in Singapore to maintain your Singapore passport.

By doing so, you can enjoy the slow-paced lifestyle and social benefits of Australia and the capital gain tax-free benefits of Singapore, especially if you intend to grow your wealth with stocks and ETFs.

Sounds like you don't have that "spark" for that guy?

Head over heart?

Sometimes going through a crisis together might just create that spark.

I don't know sort of crisis he would face in his life given that he was born with a diamond spoon.

Super rich guy. You don't need to work anymore. You will be trophy wife.

This sort of thing is very common.

It happens a lot in the extreme upper class.

I can share more real life stories with you in private.

Those couples who were matched by their parents that I know, they are happily married with children now.

My advice is to let go of that, and enjoy the relationship. Why let go of something/someone cos of how both of you met weren't how you want it to be?

Is his family's wealth his family alone or part of the extended family?

If the extended family is involved, there could be crisis for him.

That is not the sort of existence I seek to lead.

I'm okay with being introduced by my parents, but being forced upon someone is over the top, in my opinion.

His nuclear family is already very wealthy on their own, but most of their influence and wealth lies with his extended family, chiefly his grandmother.

I think this is probably why his parents are so keen to matchmake their son to me, because apparently she has taken a fancy to me, for whatever reason.

Or you rather your parents do it secretly?

I would say they probably pressurized you into it and you also had the option not to do it if you really didn't want to. You gave in to the pressure.

Again, I would advise to let go of this and work on the relationship and see if you are truly happy. Your parents had good intentions and you could have called it off totally if you really didn't want to further with the guy.

do you mean Tak Chee house in northbridge? I think it’s still the best haha. Cheapest chicken rice is still G’Fun cafe.
Yes. Tak Chee. I used to eat there weekly last time. From the pictures I saw in Google, its chicken rice looks like those in Singapore.

Even if she wanted to, she can’t control how she feels. This sounds like the nobility in feudal times, TBH.

It's an option of course if you wish. You don't have to be a trophy wife. Also consider with funding you could create a medical empire in Australia or Singapore. Don't underestimate the potential there.

The fact you say things like "objectively he is a good " catch and he is patient etc. Tells me you are likely going to go with it.

Give it time.

Best of luck.

Put it this way. You have a "good" dilemma.

I don’t know. I like her stubbornness. Sometimes, you just have to outlast your circumstances. Most can’t, though.

True. I think her strategy is to wait till the guy gives up or she gives in.

Rich handsome good catch guy can surely find other good women to marry. Lots of options out there. See how long this guy keep chasing.

Sometimes it's the ones they cannot get that keeps them curious. Things can change once they land the catch and lose interest too.

Many responsibilities and issues interwined with, and complicated her situation. 门当户对,传宗接待,blah blah. UHNW problems.

High chance that everything will change for the worse if she marries the chap.. her worries are practical and reasonable. :o

Pretty women = can find everywhere .
Pretty female doctor = rare.
Pretty female doctor with a good attitude = rarer.
Pretty female doctor with a good family background, and good attitude = rarest
物以稀为贵。

I'm sure the guy has his own problems, and concerns.
