Update from Batam:

Normal calls - Eight (from Batam) unable to call Eight (in Singapore). Also Eight (from Singapore) unable to call Eight (in Batam).

But data roaming, whatsapp message and whatsapp calls (in Batam) are woring fine!

Thanks for the update. When I was in Jakarta on Aug 18th, I was able to make calls. I was lucky then and kept blowing trumpets on eight to the sky. got many people converted to eight and now eight jin congested jk jk

Saw in the FB page that someone's wife port in her line and it's not working as it should.

Old SIM card still works for texts and calls? Previous service provider claimed all is done on its side?

I find this weird coz if porting is completed, number released, old line should have been terminated by previous service provider. Then, the line shouldn't be working at all. But can still be used for calls and texts? Ridiculous.

One should stop porting into eight if not prepared days of dilemma to unfxck this shyt.

in manufacturing, there is a term for it, “lemon”.

i just did a port over from giga.
realised that eight captured my full NRIC name which includes pin yin when giga doesnt have the pin yin.

example:
Eight captured-
TAN AH GAO (CHEN AH GOU)
Giga registered as-
TAN AH GAO

will there be any issues?

unfortunately we can't predict as we don't work for eight nor starhub.

The end result (and recovery reasons, actions if it does not succeed on first pass will add to the communal knowledge - do let us know the eventual outcome.

applied online on last thurs night, name captured from nric included pin yin

collected sim card at store 11am+ on fri

put sim card into phone at 4pm+

porting starting on 11pm+ same day

Sat morning 6am wakeup porting completed, data + OTP + calls no problems

next few mths will port my $0 circles plan if no other cheaper solution

The initial $8 charged is for your new Eight line registration. Doesn't matter if port-in is successful, it's the first month's charge for the account.

Same case with the likes of Simba, Maxx, etc.

yup understood but the billing cycle only starts upon activation right?
