That will be a logical move from their side.

Some posts suggested giga is better on the same location.
Not sure how that happened.
My wife is one example. Switched from giga to eight for the price and roaming data + idd calls. Been with giga for few yrs didn’t hear her complain. Once switched to eight, 1 week+ only already complain recep poor, sometimes dropped and need to go outside etc.

She was on Giga 5G or 4G plan?

That's why it is important to trial for 1 to 2 months before port in. I happen to have the same poor reception issue at home. Need to stand at the door , then reception is OK. Luckily never port in.

My port in fails!!
One line ported from Giga - no issues
2nd line ported from ViViFi - porting failed

Anyone else faced porting issue with ViViFi?
I ported 2 lines from vivifi 3 weeks back. Zero issues. Collected SIM from ubi and next day midnight vivifi lines ported over. Smooth like butter. Both vivifi lines under my name/account

that is a bit peculiar.
It should have the same strength, as both Giga and Eight are under Starhub.

Is your wife on 5G plan on Giga? 5G and 4G is a big difference. Our 4G network are too congested, 5G is another level.

Giga 5G is now using 5G SA network, hence it's faster and lower latency. I'll suggest people who really need mobile network for their work and earn a living, eight will not be a good choice. Let's hope eight can introduce 5G soon. Yesterday, they did a sneek peak saying that they will introduce something soon.

One line ported from Giga - no issues
2nd line ported from ViViFi - porting failed

Anyone else faced porting issue with ViViFi?

Mine failed 4 times, keep saying NRIC mismatched. Eventually Vivifi admitted their system was down so all port in request that came in during that specific time was auto rejected. 5th try succesful after a week of failed attempt. Since their system is as bad as their 4G plan, I ported out all my family member's numbers to eight with 88 days free + $8 top up bonus- paying only $1.4 per month for 1st 5 months.

Maybe I should consider switching my GOMO 5G to Giga 5G to try, I sometimes need to fall back on eight when I have video calls on GOMO 5G for work, keep having deadzones in underground MRT and certain areas.

If i am not wrong, Gomo 5G is using 5G NSA (non-standalone). It differs from giga 5G which is using SA (standalone) network.

Singapore currently have 2 5G SA networks, 1 run by Singtel, and another one co-shared between M1 and Starhub. So definitely, there will be a difference using giga 5G.

Depends on which MRT lines u r taking, it is a well known fact that EWL from city hall to redhill is basically a deadzone. ST always having a problem at that area. Moreover, GOMO 5G is running on 4G backbone diff from giga pure 5G network.

ST claims to have 5G covered in all underground MRT, which I dont find that true.
I take the DTL almost everyday and there are spots where pure 5G is not working. (Newton, little india, beauty world - just to name a few)

1 more thing - I dont think giga have 5G underground. correct me if I'm worong

Half a year ago, I was using M1 5G SA CORI Plan, I don't see 5G on EWL MRT tunnel.

Starhub and M1 is sharing same 5G SA network so should be similar.

Mine is the highest tier GOMO 5G plan, so I can presume the rest are also as bad if not worse. Was commenting how my eight has data when my GOMO 5G cmi and someone was talking about Giga. Ok back to eight lol.

I am using Zym 5G myself. I won't rate them very high. After using them for a year plus, they suffered downtime which can be irritating.

Their 5G NSA is fast, i can get 1.1gbps downlink. However, when it comes to peak hour on mrt stations and tunnels, especially EWL. It is slow and similar to eight. Luckily, sometimes i have eight as backup. Zym 5G is fast, but not always. Latency is high, hence sometimes loading of webpages is slow despite having fast speed.

Like what is the point of having a Bugatti engine, in a Honda Vezel on a 1 lane highway? I rather you have a Bugatti Engine in a Bugatti Chiron on the autobahn. Zym is like a zhng-ed up Honda Vezel trying to compete with a sports car

Ya agree I prefer consistency and stability. Let's see what exciting news eight has to share with us soon.

I have SIMBA as my backup.
If eight has no data, I will toggle the data to Simba.
Nowadays it is getting more often to toggle to simba. I am not complaining lah, but just want those potential users who wanna port-in to know eight is getting more and more congested and slow.

As for the international SIM, I am still pursuing with eight with IMDA in cc.
Last email reply was from IMDA yesterday, and here goes:

Thank you for your email of 1 October 2024.
We acknowledge the extended time required for a resolution. We would like to assure you that while the service providers are best positioned to provide assistance and resolve the issue, we are actively engaged in facilitating your case with Eight and have reminded them to reach out to you promptly. We will continue to follow up with them on your case.
Best Regards

i am trying out simba as backup for eight. Simba speed is more stable than eight (speeds don't fluctuate as much), especially on green line, between jurong east and pasir ris during rush hours
