i am trying out simba as backup for eight. Simba speed is more stable than eight (speeds don't fluctuate as much), especially on green line, between jurong east and pasir ris during rush hours
Yes. Black spots for eight are around Simei, Bedok, and the infamous stretch of EWL tunnel.

besides the EW tunnel, simei area is useable (not great, but useable), but in the direction towards town, the righthanded sweeping turn just before the approach to tanah merah station, is a "data free" zone.

purple line and yellow line for me so far is acceptable (again, not great, but acceptable)

for my case, maybe morning commute toward Pasir Ris, when the train is approaching Simei, it is data-free zone. it is a cue for me to get off :s13:

I have SIMBA as my backup.
If eight has no data, I will toggle the data to Simba.
Nowadays it is getting more often to toggle to simba. I am not complaining lah, but just want those potential users who wanna port-in to know eight is getting more and more congested and slow.

As for the international SIM, I am still pursuing with eight with IMDA in cc.
Last email reply was from IMDA yesterday, and here goes:

Thank you for your email of 1 October 2024.
We acknowledge the extended time required for a resolution. We would like to assure you that while the service providers are best positioned to provide assistance and resolve the issue, we are actively engaged in facilitating your case with Eight and have reminded them to reach out to you promptly. We will continue to follow up with them on your case.

Better to have a back-up sim n just toggle as and when needed
Fully agree. Sad but true, cannot rely on just one network.

Just earlier went to dabao dinner in ground level Koufu. Stall just inside the entrance but ST network couldn't finish processing payment neither 4G nor 5G. Last resort used Hotspot from M1 line in another phone. Stall said connection is bad, have to go out to finish the payment process but with M1, I got it right in front of their stall.

More than 1 line or 1 phone, whatever floats your boat.

Hope eight could add more countries to the APAC roaming.

Currently have 6 countries, add 2 more (Japan & South Korea) to make it 8 :giggle:

Hi all,
Just like to ask, the 1GB Intl roaming is for one month? Confused with those travel eSIM which is usually 1gb/day. What happened if run out? We still need to get travel sim/esim rite?

These are plans you subscribe with a local telco, benefits are renewed monthly. You will get 1GB monthly.

Don't confuse with travel esim which is one off purchase.

hi all i have decided to jump to eight !!

just to confirm, i initiate port-in . then wait for sim card arrival (interim my old telco should still be active and facilitating my daily usage. it's not 8 in that sense yet). when new card arrive, pop into phone, then i activate using emails otp. then from there, next day on, i should be on 8 already.

is that correct?

Last part is if lucky and things don't go wrong. Some times can take a few working days or porting fail and need to redo.
